PETERSBURG – Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel for Joseph John Kawecki, 74, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010.
Joseph was born April 24, 1936, in Youngstown, the son of the late Stanley and Victoria (Roginski) Kawecki. Joseph served in the U.S. Air Force.
Joe worked at Youngstown Steel Door for 16 years and then Buechner Hall for 19 years, until retiring in 2006.
Joseph is survived by his wife, of 48 years, the former Helen Wilkeson, whom he married Oct. 5, 1962; his children, Laurie (Dan) Tomko, John (Elaine) Kawecki, Steve (Liza) Kawecki, Paul (Cheryl) Kawecki, Mike Kawecki and Tim (April) Kawecki; 12 grandchildren; and his sisters, Josephine Sadosky, Laura Wiseman, Valerie Oprendek and Sophie Horvath.
Joseph was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet; his brothers, Henry, Louis, Thomas, Frank and Stanley; and his sister, Helen Green.
Family and friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Petersburg Cemetery.
