F.L. RICE CALLED TO REST
Francis Lawson Rice, 85, died last Friday at his home on East Main st., following a stroke of paralysis a month previous. Mr. Rice was born in Pennsylvania Feb. 14, 1850. He was married in 1875 to Rhoda Miller, who died three years ago. The family came to Ohio, spending a short time at Concord before coming to Canfield forty years ago. Mr. Rice found pleasure and profit in gardening and for thirty years served as village cemetery sexton. He was a devoted member of the Methodist church. Surviving are the following children: John O., of Warren, Oscar M., of Ashtabula, Mrs. Ella Maguire, Mrs. Pearl Cox and Mrs. Carrie Anthonsen of Youngstown and Misses Nellie and Bess Rice at home; also eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. G.A. Gibson officiating, burial following in the village cemetery.
