Mrs. Rhoda Miller Rice, aged 77 years, wife of Frank L. Rice, died last Saturday at the family home on East Main street. She had been in failing health for several years but bore her suffering with christian fortitude. She was born in Emmaville, Pa., Jan. 7th, 1855, a daughter of Joseph and Delilah Miller, and was married to Mr. Rice in June, 1875. The family came to Canfield about 40 years ago. Deceased was long a member of the Methodist church. Surviving besides her husband are the following children: Mrs. Ella McGuire, Mrs. Pearl Cox, Mrs. Carrie Anthonsen of Youngstown, John and Oscar Rice of Warren, Misses Bessie and Nellie Rice at home. She also leaves these sisters and brothers: Mrs. Elizabeth Cessna, Rosemont; Mrs. Jennie Justi and Mrs. Mattie Schwartz, Salem; Mrs. Martha Cutting, Ellsworth; Mrs. Ellen Adams and Joseph Miller, Oberlin, and George Miller, California. Largely attended funeral services were held in the Methodist church Monday afternoon, Rev. G.C. Cornell officiating. Burial was made in the village cemetery.
