AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Rose Marie Nenadich, 82, died Oct. 5, 2009 at Mahoning Valley Hospital, Trumbull Campus after falling at her home on Aug. 28, 2009 and several surgeries.
Rose was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Carbon, Pa., a daughter of Joseph and Lucy Dalmatin Nenadich.
She lived in Carbon, Pennsylvania until 2003, then she moved to Austintown, Ohio.
She was a 1944 graduate of Bessemer High School. After graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the Department of the Navy and then moved to New York City, where she worked for a fashion house as a hand model until 1952. Upon her return, Rose worked as a secretary for Republic Steel and Truscon, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in Hillsville, Pa., now called the Christ the King Parish, and St. Joseph Church in Austintown. At St. Lawrence, she belonged to the women’s group, Christian Mothers and worked in the office. She also belonged to the Senior Citizens Group at St. Joseph Church. Rose enjoyed playing cards and bowling in her earlier years.
She leaves her sister, Lena Kovalan of Youngstown, Ohio; six nieces, Kathleen Sullivan of Youngstown, Jane Kovalan of Youngstown, Patricia (Scott) Kovalan Shope of Charlotte, N.C., Nancy (Mark) Iovenette of Rocklin, California, Mary (Joseph) Schesler of Youngstown and Joanne Antigua of Elk Grove, Calif.; four nephews, Michael (Deborah) Sullivan of Waco, Texas, Joseph Sullivan of Youngstown, John (Debbie) Kovalan of Vermilion and Robert (Carla) Kovalan of Austintown, Ohio; six great-nieces; six great-nephews; and seven great-great- nieces and great-great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Sullivan, Lucille Rose and Mary Ullery; a brother, John Nenadich; and four brothers-in-law, Michael Sullivan, Harry Rose, Ted Kovalan and Morris Ullery.
There will be private calling hours for the immediate family.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ the King Parish in Hillsville. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Hillsville, Pennsylvania.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Rose’s name to a charity of their choice.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, Ohio
