STRUTHERS – Michael Styn, 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, July 28, 2009, at Hospice House in Poland, Ohio surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness.

Michael was born Oct. 6, 1925 in Ustryky, Dolne, Poland, a son of the late Ivan and Kateryna Czaplynska Sztyn.

Mr. Styn served as a staff sergeant during Word War II, and met and married his wife in Scotland following the war. The couple moved to the Youngstown, Ohio area in 1953, where Michael worked for 26 years as a crane operator for Youngstown Sheet & Tube, Campbell Works, retiring in 1979.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church for 56 years, and also was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, Ohio for the past 10 years.
Michael enjoyed music, playing the accordion, dancing with his wife, gardening, politics, and playing cards and dominos with his family and friends.

His beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Johnston Styn, whom he married Feb. 23, 1952, passed away Aug. 9, 2006.

Michael leaves two sons, Nick (Connie) Styn of Hubbard, Ohio and Michael (Mindi) Styn of Ellwood City, Pa.; two daughters, Margie (Jeff) Petry of Dayton, Ohio and Mary Ann (David) Sefcik of Warren, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Prezioso, Nick (Melissa) Styn, Chris Styn, Jay, Jenny and Jon Petry, Laura and Kim Sefcik and Michael Jacob Styn; and a great-grandson, Vincent Prezioso.

Besides his wife, a brother, Nicholas Styn, and three sisters, Mary, Anna and Sophie, are also deceased.

Family and friends may call today, July 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown, Ohio where a Panachida will be held at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will begin on Friday at 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home, and continue at 1 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, Ohio.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Campbell, Ohio.
