Ex Toledoan Former Telegraph Operator
Roscoe Williams, Sr., 68, of 8003 Almont Dr., Erie, Mich., died yesterday in Riverside Hospital.
Mr. Williams was born in Pembroke, VA. and lived in Toledo 45 years before moving to Erie seven years ago. He was a Western Union telegraph operator 43 years, retiring in 1959. He was a member of Local 72, Commercial Telegraphers' Union.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; a son, Roscoe, Jr., Toledo; brothers, Charles, Miami, Fla.; Theodore, Toledo; and Harper, Tallahassee, Fla.; a half sister, Mrs. Cora Brady, Roanoke, VA.; helf brothers, Banner Williams, Radford, VA and Broad Williams, Pembroke, and William Ward, Roanoke; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the farnham Mortuary, Temperance, Mich. with burial in Toledo Memorial Park.

Mrs. Alice A. Williams, 93, of Nevada Street, died yesterday in St. Charles Hospital. She operated the news stand at the Greyhound Bus Terminal 10 years, retiring in 1968. Mrs. Williams was a former Sunday school teacher for Salem United Methodist Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Habermas. Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Eggleston-Meinert-Welsh Mortuary, Main Street, where the body will be after 7 tonight. The family requests that any tributes be in the form of contributions to the church.
