I looking for marriage info on a Jacob Colingham & Julie Ann Davis who were married on Dec 29, 1881 in Licking Co. Marriage Records, Book 2, of Licking Co., OH
Lic # 1069, Colingham, Jacob & Davis, Julia A., 29 Dec 1881--Rev J.N. Fields
I'm trying verify the POB of Jacob--State? Does anyone have access to this info? If not, would a marriage cert reveal this info and if so, how can I obtain a copy of such?
thanks,
L.P.

Bill thanks for your great work. If the marriage license shows the groom's POB was IA, then this person is correct.I had his census of 1860, but other family researchers said he died in 1860. Not true if the above info is correct since was married in 1881.

That website shows Julia died 2 years after marriage.
1 child born 1882, Olive.
They site Ohio death records as resource, Ohio Death Index.
Jacob may have remarried.

One thing that can throw you off is if there's an older person of the same name (or younger) as if you're only aware of one of them you may think a death record is for the wrong person. I remember a case of a Peter Dardinger I assumed died young as there was available a death record for a Peter Dardinger and where I knew he lived. Turned out I found him alive later in a census and then learned he'd had a son who died young. Since the son wasn't in a census, I'd not realized he existed. The came sort of things has happened to me as well a couple of other times. It doesn't have to be a parent-child relationship either. there can be uncles or cousins who throw you off.

Bill do you know how I can obtain the marriage certificate of these people from OH? Does OH State have a web site site that would tell me what info is contained in the license of 1881 i.e. besides the names--,does it contain POB's? If they don't then it would be of not use to me. The only evidence I have is that Jacob's mother spelled her last name Colingham which is the same as the marriage book lists. Although, unforuntately this surname is spelled three other ways--Cottingham etc. Other researchers say that Jacob was killed in 1860's by Indians while traveling to Calif. But as you see, I found an individual of that name married in OH in 1881. So I need to get a marriage license cert to verify where he was born. If there's no web site, then I'll have to write a letter to Licking Co Probate Court division and ask them. This is an interesting research problem--I like to solve puzzels.
Appreciate your interest.

My husband Don, works part-time for the Licking Co. Genealogy Society. The orginal marriage records are at the genealogy library. He will try to look up the marriage record you want and see what info: it contains. He will be at the library tomorrow he will let you know if he found anything .

Thank you Nancy for your wonderful offer. Since my note I have obtained a copy from the courthouse via mail. I did verify the spelling of Colingham although I am still unable to verify a lineage to the Cottinghams (Colingham, etc) that I was working with because I was unable to find him in 1880 LC or OH censuses. I need to know his POB.
