LOAR vs. LOWER
I am the gr-gr granddau of Mary Alice LOAR, born to Wesley (James? Wesley) and Mary (Byers?) LOAR. Wesley is found in an 1860 Federal Census of Effingham Co., IL, listed as LOWER. He was 17 at this time, and father is listed as Henry J. Lower, mother listed as Elizabeth. Henry, Elizabeth and Wesley are listed as having been born in OHIO,
(county info is not listed). Henry appears (per census) to have been born in 1820. Elizabeth was born (per census documentation) in 1822. Other siblings in IL. Census were: Joseph W., Albert, Moses, Mary E., Louisa E. and Isaac H.) Interested in ANY information on this family - WHY the LOAR/LOWER confusion? I have no further information at this time, but I am going to be reviewing earlier census records for OHIO. I am adopted and have no contact with any immediate (LOAR) family members. Thank you (in advance) for any help you may be able to offer! (P.S. Go PACERS!!!)
