Services for Ralph J. Gilfether, 79, of Kirtland, a retired funeral director, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Immaculate Conception Church, 37950 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Mr. Gilfether died Dec. 7, 2007, at Hospice House in Cleveland. Born Oct. 24, 1928, in Lakewood, he lived in Willowick before moving to Kirtland. He was a councilman in Willowick from 1974 to 1983 and was council president in 1983. He served as mayor from 1984 to 1985. Mr. Gilfether was a funeral director, retiring in 1992. Survivors are his daughters, Theresa (Robert) Phifer and Janet (Kevin) Stutz; sons, Michael (Kelly), Thomas (Jonathan) and John (Doris); 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Donald; and sister, Marian (Paul) Friedl. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Burchill); sister, Sr. Natalie Gilfether SND; and brother, Rev. Frank Gilfether SMA. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brickman Bros.
