This is a portion of her obituary.Amanda Spencer Smith was born in Ward Township, Hocking county Ohio August 13, 1859 and departed this life June 25, 1904, aged 44 years, 10 months and eleven days. She married John W Smith July 12, 1877. To this union was born one son (Samuel, my grandfather) and seven daughters.(One of the daughters died in infancy.) She leaves behind a husband, seven children, father, mother, three brothers and two sisters. John W and Amanda Spencer Smith are buried in Union cemetery in Hocking county.
