Grimes of German Twp help needed

On the 1850 census for German Twp. is this family:
Grimes Harriet 63 b Frederick Co., MD
Sarah 29 b Fayette Co., PA
Arabella 22 b Jefferson Co., OH
Also on the same page is a Warner Grimes with wife Nancy and 8 children. I believe Warner is likely a son of Harriet as he named his oldest daughter Harriet & has a son Joshua who I believe was his father.

By 1860 I do not find Harriet, Sarah or Arabella. I do not find a marriage for them either. Warner & family are still in German Twp.

Is anyone with access to burial records for German Twp. willing to do a cemetery lookup for these 3 women for me? I'm especially interested in Harriet.

LouAnn in NC
I have detailed information about my great-grandfather George Henry Coleman, but virtually nothing about his ancestors.

George Henry COLEMAN
Birth: 16 Nov 1873, Harrison County, Ohio
Death: 13 Jul 1965, Mecca Rest Home; Medina County, Ohio
Marriage: 11 Mar 1897

Spouse: Jennie Dena MINER
Birth: 24 Jun 1870
Death: 30 Mar 1927

I have his WWI draft registration, funeral card, and obituary, as well as verification of dates from multiple family members.

According to the 1900 Census (Medina County), George's parents were both born in Ohio.

A now-deceased great aunt said that George's mother was Fanny Peoples (or maybe Piaplis, the handwriting is difficult to read), but this is unsubstantiated.

Can anyone fill in an details about George's parents?

Thanks,
Ben

I have just finished my overhaul of the Harrison County Schools page on my website.

http://www.oldohioschools.com/harrison_county.htm

I am still missing quite a few pictures of some of the old schools as well as some dates and locations. Please check out the new page and let me know what you think or if you can help with any other information. It now loads much faster and is more user-friendly for people wanting to only view a certain county.

Mcconnell Cemetery lookup - Washington Twn

I am making a trip to Harrison county in a month and am desperate to locate the burial site of Rachel (Browning) McConnell (who died in 1902 in Harrison County) before I go! I want to take a picture when I'm there.

She was married to John McConnell and she and John were lifetime residents of Washington Twn. I see that there is a McConnell Cemetery in Washington Twn and I am wondering if someone can look to see if Rachel is there? That would be my first choice for her burial location but she might be buried anywhere in Washington Twn.

I would so appreciate a helping hand/lookup for her. I have never been to Ohio and am thrilled to be able to come and do some research. Getting a few wonderful pieces in my puzzle photographed would make my trip.

Thank you!

Also another George Brown, b. in the 1790'2, d. 1840-1850, and buried probably in Freeport Twp. I know there are publications from the local Genealogical Society that might have this information.
Lillian LUCAS - Pascoe COPELAND marriage?

I am trying to trace the family of Lillian LUCAS, daughter of George and Emily (HUGHES) LUCAS. She was born in Highley, Shropshire, England in 1897 and came to the US in 1905.

In the 1910 Census, she is living in Loudon Township in Carroll County with his parents and siblings. By 1920, she was married to her first husband, Pascoe COPELAND. At that time, they were living in Hopedale in Harrison County.

From the Census data, they were married about 1914 and had a daughter Mary about a year later. I'm not sure if the marriage occurred in Carroll or Harrison County, and was hoping someone could help me out.

In the 1920 Census, Pascoe's last name looks like "COPELEO", although he certainly went by COPELAND in later years. He was born in Italy, so maybe there was some Anglicization of his name at some time (COPELAND doesn't strike me as particularly Italian).

Thanks
Glenn

I am searching for the surname and family of Catherine__. She was born in Harrison Co., Ohio, around 1795. Catherine later met and married Emanuel Allensworth (1780 - ) from Frederick, Virginia. One of their sons was Jacob Allensworth (1818 - ). He married (1) Rebecca Calhoun and (2) Violet McCracken (1822 - ). Their son, William Allensworth, was born at Cadiz, Ohio, in 1853. He married Julia B. Steeves (1856 - 1945).
Arthur Martin 1772 Ireland-1826 OH Immigration date?

Do you know where I might find the immigration record for this Arthur Martin? Do you know Arthur's parents?

Arthur Martin was reported to have been born 1771 in Ireland ["Cadiz Township Cemeteries" shows his transcribed tombstone birth date as 8 Feb 1772. "Historical Collections of Harrison County", page 544 shows his birth in 1771, Ireland.] He married Margaret Oury/Urey in 1804 while they were both still in Lancaster Co., PA. Therefore, he must have come to America between 1772-1804.

I've searched for this Arthur Martin in Passenger Lists of Philadelphia and New York, with no success – maybe I just haven't yet found the right list. Do you know when he immigrated and through what port?
If he immigrated from Ireland after 1790, I assume he had to be naturalized. Is that correct? Do you have a copy of his Naturalization from which I might have a copy?

Thank you for the advice.

-Bill Martin Denver, CO
billmartin44@ieee.org
---------------------------------------------------------

Arthur & Margaret (Oury/Urey) Martin Family

Subject: Arthur Martin
Birth: 8 Feb 1772, Ireland (probably Northern Ireland)
Immigration: between 1771 and 1804; Port Unknown
Marriage:21 Aug 1804, Lancaster Co., PA.;Margaret Oury/Urey
Census: 1810, Lancaster Co., PA.
LandContract: 21 Aug 1811, Steubenville, OH.
Travel: ca 1813 to Harrison Co., OH.
Deed Grantee: 26 Nov 1813, Cadiz Twp, Harrison Co., OH.
Census: 1820, Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH.
Death:21 Oct1826, on the farm, Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH.
Burial: ca 23 Oct 1826, Hines (Moravian Ridge) Cem., Cadiz Twp., near Asbury Methodist Chapel, Harrison Co., OH.

I have read that the Scot-Irish were Seceders from the Presbyterian Church of England and that there was a Presbyterian Church near Deersville, which was refered to as the Sharon Meetinghouse.

This use to stand on the old Poulson farm.

I had read this in the book 'The History of the Village of Deersville, Ohio' written by a Homer C Poulson.

There was one thing in particular of great interest to me. The author of this book said that he had in hand an original session book from this very church on loan from a C M Millhorn.

I have discovered that my family is connected to this church and some relatives, possibly even my 3rd great grand mother is buried in that cemetery. I see it as being very important I locate this book as it may give further clues to my direct line origins.

Any further information the author of this book, living Poulsons or the C M Millhorn who has the book, anything about the session book, or even the church that it talks about is highly sought after!!

OBITUARY - James Elmer Overholt

Jewell County (KS) REPUBLICAN, published in Jewell City, KS, 06 FEB 1903, pg 5:

James Elmer Overholt was born in Harrison county, Ohio, March 21, 1850, where he spent his boyhood days, and September 29, 1887, was married to Miss Susan Blanche Feirbaugh of the same county. Early in the next spring, 1888, they came to Jewell county, Kan., buying a farm 14 miles southwest of Jewell where he lived until his death, which occurred Jan. 17, 1903.

He professed conversion at the age of 21, and joined the United Brethren church, but on coming to Kansas he with his companion identified themselves with the Brown’s Creek M.E. church, where he remained a faithful member until his death.

As a neighbor, farmer, citizen and companion he stood first-class; always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed; careful, painstaking in all his farm and business affairs; loyal to his God, to his church and to his country. As a companion and father, but few in all the land could be better. His home was always bright, where neighbors and friends found a warm welcome. His Christian character was unquestioned. Everyone knew just where to find him on the subject of religion.

He was fully conscious of his condition, and frequently expressed his willingness to go when the Lord should call him. A few hours before his death he called his boys, Harry and Willie, to his side, told them he was going to die, and asked them to be good boys, shun bad company, be good to their mamma and meet him in heaven. His death was very peaceful and triumphant. He leaves a loving wife, two boys, three brothers and two sisters to mourn his loss.

Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Helmick, of Glen Elder, assisted by Rev. Long, of the Free Methodist church, on Jan. 19, 1903, short services being held at the home, and funeral preached at the Brown’s Creek church, and the remains interred in the Brown’s Creek cemetery.

(Brown’s Creek Cemetery – Mitchell Co, KS – 21 Mar 1850 – 17 Jan 1903)

(I am not connected to this family but found in an old newspaper. mls)
Dr. McPherson, civil war era, married to a girl of Wilkin

I don`t know the doctors first name. There were 3 Wilkin girls. One married a Burnside, one married Lawrence Lamb and the 3rd married Dr. McPherson. I once had pic`s of their wedding. Someone stole them. The one that married McPherson is discribed in the history books (on the civil war) as prettier than Libby Custer. I would love help getting my info back, if there is any. They would have lived near Tippecanoe (I think) but she was known to ride her horse through Dennison. e-mail Ken at emerson@chartermi.net

I have a Robert Johnson born Allegheny Co. Pa. who married a Robison I cannot make out the name on the death certificate, but it does start with an F. and she was born in Harrison County. They had a son William F. Johnson born 18 August 1861 death 4 January 1930. The informant on the death certificate for William was Jennie Rutter. Is there anyone out there that knows of this family? I believe the William is my GG-Grandfather who I have been looking for. I sure would appreciate any help at all. This William was buried in Jewett.
Please help,
Roxann Hoover
rjhoover4@hotmail.com

Looking for information about McWhorter

Trying to find out information about James Mawhorter/McWhorter b. Jan. 04, 1801 in Washington County, Pennsylvania and d. Oct. 23, 1876 in Noble County, Indiana. Also looking for information about his wife Margaret Mawhorter/McWhorter b. May 02, 1806 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. They were married in Muskigum County, Ohio March 26, 1828.

The info. I have about them so far is where they were born, married, and died. Margaret's maiden name seems to be McWhorter or MeWhorter according to thier marriage record. They were living in Salt Rock township, Marion County, Ohio in 1840 and then in 1845 Wyandot County, Ohio was formed and the portion of Salt Rock township, Marion County, Ohio that James and Margaret lived in became Antrim townshiip, Wyandot County, Ohio where they are listed in the 1850 census as James and Margaret McWherter. My 4rth Great-Grandfather James M. Mawhorter (1833-1897) a son of James and Margaret mentions in his obituary that he came to Noble County, Indiana in 1853 with his parents, about the time they seemed to change the spelling of the name from McWhorter to Mawhorter. I believe the surename name was changed becouse James and Margaret may have been inbred (Relatives of the same surename who married each other). James and Margaret were living in Elkhart township, Noble County, Indiana in the 1860 census.

I don't have access to any Courthouses or libraries in Pennsylvania or Ohio being so far away, so I figured I'd post on message boards.

Specific information I'm looking for is,

1. Where were they between 1829 - 1839 ?

2. Also looking for any information about them in Washington County, Pennsylvania?

3. Where were they in Washington County, Pennsylvania and who were their parent's were?

One assumption about who I think James parent's were is how he named his children. But I'm looking for a recorded document from a courthouse or library to prove it. I think his parent's may have been John McWhorter and Hannah Polly Early.

Here's my assumption why I think John McWhorter and Hannah Polly Early may have been his parent's.

James Mawhorter/McWhorter and Margaret Mawhorter/McWhorter

children
1. Kilborn (first born, named becouse his father John died in 1803 after James was born in 1801.)

2. James M. (named after himself)

3. John (named after James's father John)

4. William (named after James's Grandfather William McWhorter b. 1745 in Bucks County, PA.)

5. Robert (named after James's Great-Grandfather Robert McWhorter b. abt.1700 who married Sarah Johnston)

6. Adeline (?????)

7. Caroline (????)

8. Aaron "also spelled Marion in 1860" (??????)

9. Margaret E. (named after James's wife Margaret)

10. Hannah (named after James's mother Hannah Early Polly)

Just an assumption but so far it's all I have.

Bill Mawhorter
I have been searching for 3 years trying to find my Johnson/Thompson family lines and I just can't get anywhere. I really need some help with this one. The couple I am searching for is:
William F. Johnson and Rebecca Jane Thompson Johnson. They applied for their marriage license 24 August 1894 and were married 3 September 1894 by J. R. Keyes Pastor M. E. Church Cadiz, Ohio.. One daughter is all I know of and that is Fanny Belle Johnson. I do have Fanny's marriage license and she married Chester F. Elerick 12 September 1901 in Belmont County. On this marriage it states Fanny's parents as being William F. Johnson and Rebecca J. Thompson Johnson from Harrison County.
I am at my wits end trying to find them so if anyone could help I would be so so greatful.
Thanks you so much,
Roxann Hoover
rjhoover4@hotmail.com

I'm looking for information about my gggrandmother, Mary Tipton, born Nov. 18, 1804, in Harrison County, Ohio. At least I think she was born there. I know that she married my gggrandfather Daniel Reed in Harrison County, but I don't have a date. I know it was before 1837, because Daniel and his brothers bought land that year in Van Wert County through Land Patents.
She lived the rest of her life here in Van Wert County, and had many children, including my ggrandfather, Frederick Reed.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
In the pamphlet "Yesterday In Jewett", prepared by a bicenntenial committe ca.1976, it is reported at pgs.10-12 that the Buchanan Chapel was organized by 30 people in 1835; 25 being members of Ridge Presbyterian. The Chapel was later renamed Jewett Presbyterian in 1910. The founding members were: John Webster, Anne Webster, Joseph Buchanan, Elizabeth Buchanan, T.M. Lee, Mary Lee, James Stahl, Sarah Jane Stahl, Samuel Holland, Emily Holland, Joseph Webster, Debra Jane Webster, W.B. Anderson, Mary Anderson, Isaac Pratt, Catherine Pratt, Mary Jane Bishop, Alma Denny, Martha Bradley, Sarah Webster, Margaret Bucanan, Malinda Buchanan, Thomas Buchanan, McCullough Lee, Sarah Jane Lee, Mary Strasbaugh, Rebecca Kirby, and Jane Roberts. The first sermon was preached by Dr. Herron, of the Ridge Church, on Saturday, May 10, 1873.
(Thought others would be interested, my Maxwells stayed on at the Ridge Church for several generations more)

I found Ralston in Harrison Co in the 1840 census, his name was misspelled as John Walston.

John was born between 1806 and 1813 +/-1 year in Washington Co PA I believe. PA for sure tho.

He lived in Moorefield Twp, Harrison County, Ohio is found there again in the 1850 cenus as John Rallston. With him is his wife Sarah and children Eliza M, William, Thomas, Sarah Jane, and James.

His brother William born 20 Nov 1818 also lived in Moorefield Twp and was married to a Margaret. In the Freeport library I found a list of cemeteries and located his wife and small children, and James the son of John.

They also had a sister, Nancy who married Peter Lawrence. She was born in Washington Co, PA on 15 Oct 1810.

All 3 eventually moved to and lived in the townships of Washington and Londonderry in Guernsey County.

I was hoping to someone know what would know a John, William and Nancy. I have no further information at this time.

Noah Cox

Noah Cox
of Washington County, Pennsylvania, Guernsey, Harrison & Pickaway Counties Ohio and Noah Cox, Jr. of Starr County, Texas
The 1800 and 1810 Washington County, PA census for Mary Cox, the mother of Noah Cox shows the following: 1800 has one male age 10 - 16 and the 1810 has one male age 16 to 26. As Noah was the only male child this should be him.
Noah Cox first appears by himself in the 1813 thru 1815 tax rolls for Hopewell Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania as a single freeman. This information comes from an abstract of these tax rolls and the originals need to be found and checked to verify the accuracy of the abstract.
On Sept 3, 1814 Noah Cox purchased 160 acres of government land in Guernsey County, Ohio. It description was NE 1/4 of Sec 19 in twp 11 in range 7 of the Steubenville district. Both the tract entry book and the land entry file say Noah Cox "of Washington County, Pennsylvania" was the purchaser. The land was patented in 1818 after Noah finished paying for it.
On 17 October 1816 Noah Cox and Mary Jamison marry in Guernsey County, Ohio.
On 27 January 1819 Noah Cox and his wife Mary of Washington County, Pennsylvania sell 2 acres of land in Hopewell Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania to his sister Mary or Polly Cox..
Noah Cox appears in the 1820 census for Derry (Londonderry) Township, Guernsey County OH. He is aged 16 to 26 in this census.
Noah and his wife Mary Cox of Londonderry Township, Guernsey County, Ohio sell land in Guernsey County described as the NE 1/4 of sect 19 in twp 11 range 7 on 13 Jan 1821. One of the witnesses is a Robert Jamison that should be investigated as the possible father of Noah's wife Mary.

On February 13, 1821 Noah Cox purchased 75 acres government land in Guernsey County. It was described as the west 1/2 of the south west 1/4 of sec 32 of twp 11 range 7.
Noah also appears in various tax rolls for Guernsey County. Some are for personal property and some are for real property (land). They are:
1820	real property
1826	real property personal property
1827	real property personal property
1828	real property
1829	real property
1830	real property
(The 1828, 1829 & 1830 real property tax listing for Noah Cox are suspect as he sold his land in Guernsey County and appears to have moved before these years.)
Noah and his wife Mary Cox of Londonderry Township, Guernsey County, Ohio sell land in Guernsey County, described as west 1/2 of southwest 1/4 of section 32 in township 11 range 7 of lands sold at Steubenville on 23 October 1827. A James Cox was one of the witnesses on this deed. As Noah had no siblings per records from Washington County, PA and as frequently relatives witnessed deeds, this James should be investigated.
Noah Cox purchased land in Harrison County, Ohio on 10 November 1827. It was described as the NE 1/4 of sect 28, twp 11, Range 7 of land sold at Steubenville.
Noah Cox appears in the 1828 tax roll for Freeport Township, Harrison County, Ohio. (The microfilmed tax rolls I consulted was missing the years 1826 and 1827. If possible, these years and the years 1829 through 1839 need to be looked at in Harrison County Courthouse records to complete a search for Noah Cox records there.)
Noah and Mary Cox of Harrison County, Ohio sell land in Harrison County, Ohio 17 Nov 1828. It is described as the NE 1/4 of sect 28 of Twp 11 of Range 7 of lands sold at Steubenville.
Noah Cox appears in the 1830 census in Freeport Township, Harrison County, Ohio. He is 40 - 50 years of age.
Let us fast forward to 1877 and Noah Cox, Jr. in Starr County, Texas. Noah, Jr. is an important man in local politics. A biography of him appears in the Texas Legal Directory for 1876 - 1877, and it states he was born in Harrison County, Ohio 27 July 1830 and came to Texas in January 1851 from Circleville (Pickaway County) Ohio. His tombstone also states the same birth place and date. At this time these are the best available sources that establish these facts.
In Circleville, Ohio is the High Street Cemetery. Sometime around 1963 this cemetery was "cleaned up" and the stones were removed. It does appear that the cemetery had its tombstone inscriptions recorded before the "cleanup" and copies were placed in the Pickaway County Recorders office and the Circleville City Recorders office. The inscriptions appear in the Pickaway Quarterly the publication of the Pickaway County Historical Society of Winter 1974. Recorded for the Cox family is the following:
Cox, Mary; consort of N. Cox died
March 16, 1841, aged 48 yrs., 1mo.,
23d's; and Her children "Arise with
her" Erected in memory by N. Cox
Cox, Mary, daughter of N. & M. Cox
died Oct. 1838, aged 6 yrs.
Cox, Nancy, daughter of N. & M. Cox;
died Aug. 1838, aged 15 yrs.
Cox, Noah, Sr. died Oct 5. 1839, aged
48 yrs., 5 mos., 14 days.
"There is rest in heaven".
Noah Cox, Jr. being born in Harrison County, Ohio points to him being the son of Noah Cox from Washington County, PA.
Noah Cox, Jr. having went to Texas from Circleville, Ohio appears to be the person who had the tombstone to the Cox family erected in High Street Cemetery in Circleville, Ohio.
In the 1840 census, Mary Cox appears in Circleville, Pickaway County, Ohio. This appears to be the widow of Noah Cox.
Admittedly there is a gap in the records on Noah Cox from 1830 to 1839. Possibly further research will uncover an explanation such as residence in a county not known of at this time.
There is thoughts that Noah Cox, Jr. is the son of Noah Cox in Fairfield Township, Madison County, Ohio who appears there in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census, I take the position that this is not so and my major reason is thus. Noah Cox, Jr. was born in Harrison County, Ohio per his biography and his tombstone. Noah Cox "of Washington County, Pennsylvania" is the most likely Noah Cox to have been in that county in 1830. The Noah Cox in Madison County is traceable in the census back to Deerfield Township, Ross County, Ohio in the 1850, 1840 and 1830 census. This Noah also married a lady named Mary Cook, and the family knowledge from the descendants of Noah Cox, Jr. seems to indicate that the mother of Noah Cox, Jr. was a Jamison and not a Cook.
Can anyone add to this?

I've not been sucessful in attempting to make contact with the church.

The family history catalog has only the entries of:

Church records, 1834-1877 : in collection of Genevieve M. Dolle (which don't cover Harrsion County)

Beech Spring Presbyterian Church (Harrison County, Ohio) (Which I've searched; mostly financial records more than anything else)

I have the civil record for the marriage and the name of the minister (he goes on to be a university president at Miami University in Ohio).

Thanks,

Bill Gatchell
San Antonio, TX

linking Johnsons, Stanleys, Crabtrees

wondering if anyone can help me link the Johnsons, Crabtrees and Stanleys. Here's my clues. My direct ancestor, a thomas Stanley johnson, was born in Virginia "near Richmond" in 1817 and came into Ohio through the Cumberland Gap, quite possibly into Harrison County. My first definite connection for him is around 1850 in Wooster OH, where he marries a nice vermont-born girl and rises to local prominence as a judge and a banker. The only other thing I know is that he had a brother named James Crabtree Johnson. I am able to find lots of Johnson-Stanley links, mostly among Virginia quakers, but no links to the Crabtree name. My theory is that the brothers' mother or one of their grandmothers was a crabtree...and that possibly in marrying her, Johnson married out of meeting and got kicked out of the Quakers....any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
1. Samuel Lewis and his family are listed in the 1850 census for Twp 9N IE, Knox, Illinois; Roll: m432_113; Page; 324. Samuel gave his birthplace as Pennsylvania and age as 50. Nancy, his wife, gave her age as 35 and her place of birth as Ohio.

2. The family had 10 members: Samuel, Nancy and eight children. The eldest three children were stated to have been born in Ohio. Cynthia, aged 16, Samuel, aged 15 and Martha, aged 12 were said to have been born in Ohio while Joseph, aged 9, was said to have been born in Illinois.

3. The elder Samuel Lewis does not appear in the 1860 census, but his wife Nancy and their youngest child, Samantha, do appear on the1860 census for Orange Twp, Knox, Illinois; Roll: m653_195; Page: 682; Image: 348. I suspect that the elder Samuel died after the 1850 census, but I have no evidence to sustain that belief.

4. Cynthia Lewis married John A. Buffington on 23 Oct 1853 Knoxville in Knox County, Illinois. They had a family of ten children all of whom were born in Knox County, Illinois.

5. I am interested in the relatives of Samuel Lewis, ca DOB 1800, to determine any connection between Lewis and Hannah Buffington, ca DOB 1785 VA or PA, and to trace the background of Cynthia Lewis Buffington.

Early settlers George Brown in Athens Twp., sons James and John Brown in Nottingham and Moorefield Twps.

I am searching for more details on George Brown, b. abt. 1772 in Ireland, came to Harrison Co. abt. 1807, with 2 sons. He was Justice of Peace in County. He married 3 times, had 22 children, supposedly, and died in 1863. (All of this information was posted by an Anne Szymanski, who I cannot locate). This George Brown lived in Cadiz in 1820, then Athens Twp. after that. Does any one have any more information on George, or his 2 sons that came from Ireland with him? I am guessing that his sons were James and John Brown, who both lived in Nottingham Twp. in 1820, and Moorefield Twp. John died between 1831 and 1840. John's widow, who I think is Elizabeth Brown (b. abt. 1800 in PA), appears in the 1840 census for Moorefield Twp., but has relocated to Armstrong Co., PA, by 1850. Their children were Martha (birth year unclear), Henry (b. 1829), and Jackson Brown (b. 1831). Any information on any of these family members would be greatly appreciated!

McGilvery's of Cadiz Village c: 1900

George Edward McGilvery of my MacGillivray Family] was born 15 November 1880 in Canada and emigrated to Cadiz Ohio about 1900. (I believe his brother James emigrated too but may have moved to Pittsburg and m Edna Huffman.) In 1930, the Cadiz Village Census records George as a Mining Superintendent, head of household with wife Cloris|Cline? D Dennis, and four children: Nancy b c:1912, George Edward Jr b c:1921, Helen D b c:1922 and Lucile M b c:1923. His brother-in-law Edward R Dennis was also living with the family and was recorded as a steam shovel engineer. George was my Great Uncle. Did any of the family stay in Cadiz? Are there any cemetery records of this name? What mine would George have worked for? I would deeply appreciate any leads and/or information.
