The
Guernsey county website has a pretty good summation of when all the
Guernsey county townships were formed, on which date, and so on. The information appears to be taken from one of the county histories. However, for several townships south of
Cambridge that I am interested in, only the information that "township organized" and the year is indicated. I understand that there were five original townships in 1810. But if they were subdivided, I would like to see a progression of the divisions. I am interested mostly in
Jackson Township, but also would like to know about Center, Richland,
Spencer and Valley townships. Per the 1820 census, I know that my ancestor Richard
Dickerson was living in
Buffalo Township(it was later part of
Noble County). I suspect that the family did not move at all, but rather, the township boundaries did!
