Hi, I'm trying to find all I can re:Otho B. Grier's family and ancestors. This is what I know. He was born C1843 in Guernsey Co., Ohio. Died c1890+/- in Hoyt, WV. Married Virginia Thorn 5SEP1875 in Wirt Co., WV. Served in Capt. McCormick's Co., 97th Regiment of the Ohio Infantry-mustered in 4JUL1862 and Mustered out Nashville, TN on 10JUN1865. His personal description is 5'9" tall, dark complected with black eyes and hair and was "a moderately good soldier." Parents are John Grier and Cindereilla (spelling probably not accurate)He has a brother named Shannon born c1842 in Ohio. I have located him in the 1890 Special Schedule-Surviving Soldier, Sailors, and Marines, and Widows, etc. in Reedy District, Wirt Co., WV. I have located him in the 1880 Census of Reedy Dist., Wirt Co., WV under GREER, Otho with wife, and 2 children-Tennie and Shannon. I have found an Otho Grier on the 1860 Census of Jackson Twp., Cashocton Co., Ohio listed with Thomas Grier, Charity, Benton, Frances, Morris, James H. Francis M. This Otho is the right age and born in the right place, just not sure it's the right one. Then I have found him twice in the 1850 Census. He's listed in Oxford Twp. of Guernsey Co., Ohio, dated 26SEP1850. The listing shows Sophia Ferrel, James Ferrel, William, then Otho Greer aged 7 with Shannon Greer written small on the same line and an Alfred Greer written small on the line below above the name of the next dwelling. Then he's listed again in the 1850 census in Warren Twp, Belton Co., Ohio dated 13JUL1850. The listing shows James Fowler, Cindarilla Fowler(possibly his mom remarried?) Sarah C Fowler, Alcinda Fowler, John W. Fowler, Joseph (can't read middle name) Fowler, Shannon Grier, and Otho Grier. Again he is the right age and born in the right place. And finally, the 1840 Census of Big Rock, Morgan Co., OH has a John Grier listed with the appropriate columns checked to indicate two sons, a wife, and himself. Can anyone help me to tie this family together? Explain why Otho is with different families? Tell me what Cinderella's maiden name is and maybe how many times she married?
