Looking for LeHoty or LeHotay. Saw names on bricks at Stone House at Salt Fork. It is my maiden name.

I don't know! I am a LeHoty from northeast Ohio on my father's side. My grandfather, John Harrison LeHoty, died in 1947 before I was born and my Dad (who is 80) doesn't know much about his Dad's relatives. The name is not common, especially the spelling (we use a capital H), so when I saw it at Salt Fork, it made me start to wonder of a common ancestor somewhere way back. Or how did we get up here outside of Cleveland, and the same name get to southern Ohio? I find it interesting.
thx...Sheli

Michelle, the Lehotay from Salt Fork was probably Martin Lewis Lehotay was born on 12 Dec 1877 in Rakos', Slovakia. He died on 23 Mar 1938 in Guernsey County OH. He married Verona Novotny in 1901 in Europe.

As far as I know the rest of that family stayed in Guernsey County Ohio.

I did see some references while researching about Cuyahoga county but did not find any connections.

thx for your message. my paternal grandfather was born in 1882, and I think we went from Lehotay to LeHoty so he could enlist for the Spanish American War at the age of 16. Still looking for a connection between northern and southern Ohio.

Not a connection to Guernsey but I found a John LeHoty 25 in household with brother Andrew 35, brother Stephen 18, and mother Elizabeth 60 in the 1910 census Cuyahoga OH. John, Andrew and Elizabeth were Hungarians or Magyars immigrated in 1890.

Found a Elizabeth Lehotai 40 came to US with Janos (variant of John) 7 years old 11 Oct 1890 on ship Munchen, also Elizabeth 9 and Marie 4

Thought might be connection.

Are you still researching the Salt Fork area? I know who it is -- my brother and his family vacationed there once or twice. We are descendents of the brother, Stephen LeHoty.
