Hi, Ross - I believe that my ggg-grandmother, Mary Orr Luyster (1821,OH - 1888,OH), is the daughter of your John and Sarah Arnold Orr. Does this synch with your records? I haven't got much information about either the Orrs or the Arnolds - would love to exchange whatever info I do have with you. Thanks!

Hi Morgan,
Great to hear from you, always good to hear from another Orr cousin.
Yes, you do fit in my records. Mary Orr Luyster's brother Samuel Orr 1824-1896 (Lucetta Cavanaugh) was my great grandfather.
His son Cooley Orr 1853-1924 (Emma Lincicome) was my grandfather.
His daughter Sarah Grace Orr 1900-1999 (Roscoe Love) was my mother.

Here is how I found out about the Luyster family:
After I thought I had all family information from my mother, I discovered John Orr (whom I suspected was Samuel's father) on the 1850 census living with James and Mary Luyster in Monroe Co OH. I asked my mother if the name
Lyster meant anything to her as I had never heard of it. She immediatelly said Oh my yes they are cousins, we visted them reguallly when I was growing up. She was referring to the Samuel Luyster family who lived in Noble Co.

How are you connected to Mary Orr Luyster? I would be happy to exchange information.

Ross Love

Well, Cousin Ross!
It's great to "meet" you!

Mary Orr married James Luyster in Ohio in 1841; they are my ggg-grandparents on my mother's side. Their eldest daughter, Hester Ann Luyster, married my gg-grandfather Richard Hamilton Crandall in 1861, also in Ohio. Their son, Willis Oscar Crandall, moved to West Virginia and married my great-grandmother, Mary Robson (also originally from Ohio) in 1895. Their daughter Flossie Beatrice (can you imagine growing up with that name?!) married my grandfather, Clyde William Reinhart (also originally from Ohio in 1929, and their only daughter was my mother.

Please send me your email address and I'll invite you to check out my ancestry.com tree - my mother's side isn't well researched yet but I do have some good information in there that might interest you. I had no idea until now who Mary Orr's family was, and I'm also suspicious that the information I've found on the web about John Orr's family is incorrect - I'd love to know what you know! My email is morganelliott@cox.net.
