I've got good news and bad news. The good news is I just signed up yesterday for newspapers.com's free seven day trial, so I'm cramming in as much searching as possible in those seven days. The bad news is that I didn't turn up any obituaries or anything much really. I ran a search for all newspapers in Ohio during the years they were both alive. I tried checking with their last name spelled "mccollough" also.
I found an article about his son S.J.'s daughter's wedding and another one was S.J.'s wife's sister's obituary. The third article I came across was in the Coshocton Daily times, Friday, September 11, 1908, regarding an accidental shooting of John Mccollough. I know the date and place are wrong, but thought I would mention it in case he's a relation.
The boys start back to school week after next, so I may not get to the right library until then. It may be a while before you hear anything from me, but I will let you know if I find anything either way.
oh, if you would like to see the newspaper clippings just let me know. I can always attach them here or email them too you.
