Mary Julia (Adams) Alexander 77, passed away October 1, 2014.
Mary, daughter of Ivanora (Howard) and Richard Adams, was born April 25, 1937 in Xenia, Ohio.
Mary attended Xenia public schools and was a graduate of Xenia East High School in 1955. She later obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management from Antioch University McGregor, Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Mary spent most of her adult life in Yellow Springs, Ohio where she was involved in various endeavors.
When she wasn’t caring for her family she worked at the Yellow Springs Public Library, Klein Associates, and served on the Village Council.
For several years Mary ran MJ’s Typing Service and provided village and surrounding area residents with professional publishing services.
Mary also enjoyed baking and crocheting gifts for family and friends.
Mary was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Moles, and Broadway Baptist Church.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband William Edward Ryder Alexander, and brother Richard Broadice Adams.
She leaves to mourn her death her children Noreda, William, Norman, and Ivanora; grandchildren Michael David, Isis Alma, Hunter Jacob, and William Edward III; one brother Howard Adams, Sr., her sister Phyllis (Sylvanus) Smith, an aunt Katherine (Howard) Anderson and an uncle Donald (Janice) Howard; brother-in-law Jesse Alexander, brother-in-law George (Norma) Alexander, sister-in-law Emma (Brady) Melton, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, October 8th, at Broadway Baptist Church, 4000 Brownsboro Road, followed by graveside services at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, Fort Knox, KY.
