Thomas Ennis left Ireland after/durning the rebellion in 1795(+/-) he came to Verona, New York. He worked on the Erie Canal. In 1824/25 he returned to Ireland ( Clonsat , Offray CO. then Kings Co. ) where He arranged for family and friends ( the Sullivan, Hylands and Kennedy's ,Harrison's, Dempsey's, Cassidy's, Tierny's, and Deering's) to come to New York to work on the canal and farm. He gave each family 40 arces of land and $100.00 to start up. I am looking for any and all information on this man. My Family started in the US with Patrick and Elizabeth (hyland) Sullivan. Patricks mother Elizabeth Sullivan, and the Hyland brother Patrick and thomas also immirgrated at this time
