I am researching a regimental history for the 11th Ohio Cavalry. Francis M Shipley is listed in Greene Co Census 1870-1880. He had served as Captain in Co A, 11th OVC. Any info would be appreciated particularly date of death and burial location. Military info is scarce. He is rumored to have stolen $10,000 in gold from Overland Stageline payroll that was to go to soldiers in 11th OVC for work on stageline during off-duty hours, but this story hasn't been substanciated.
