I looked through the First Volume of Marriage Records 1803-1850 in Gallia County and couldn't find who you were looking for. There were only 2 male Dawsons' married in this time period, David B. Dawson to Margaret Hutchinson Apr 2, 1840 and James Dawson to Caroline Paqe Nov. 27, 1834.
There wasn't any mention of male or female Comptons married in Gallia County at this time. Could they have been married in Lawrence County which is very close to Gallia County?
