Thank you for confirming that Eunice had married twice. I suspected she had, but I couldn't find any documentation. In the 1870 Michigan census, her son Richard Welch is listed as 12 yrs. old & living with his aunt, Eunice's sister Emma L. Stowe. I didn't know who he was. Thanks for your help!

** I'm not related.

Here is Eunice in the 1850 census with her family. I'm not sure who Amanda is and it's a shame that relationships aren't given until 1880. Possibly a middle name for Caroline? Or a second wife for Richard? Or a sister of Richard's because Caroline died????

Source Citation: Year: 1850
Census Place: Dover, Fulton, Ohio
Roll: M432_681; Page: 277A

Richard Marks, 39
Amanda Marks, 41
Eunice Marks, 14
Louisa Marks, 11
Alonzo Marks, 9
Alice Marks, 5

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I searched for Eunice with a first name and birthplace/birthyear and I'm sure this is her in 1860. It seems to me that she may have married twice?

Source Citation: Year: 1860
Census Place: Chesterfield, Fulton, Ohio
Roll: M653_965; Page: 402

Isaac Welch, 31
Eunice Welch, 23
Geo Welch, 6
Caroline Welch, 5
Richard Welch, 2
pbyochim, Would you repost your original message giving the details of Eunice, her sister Emma and parents names? Include dates and where they were born and where they lived. Did you say the parents were Richard & Caroline Marks? I think you also had Caroline's maiden name?

It may take time for the message board team to find out why your original post disappeared, so you might as well get additional help while we wait for them.

Marilyn - Board Administrator

I think I just found my g.grandmother's youngest sister, ALICE MARKS!! She was born 1845 in NY. The family went to Fulton County, Dover Twp in late 1840's. I found a child Dora Waggener born to an Alice Marks & a Joseph Waggener in Fulton, Co. OH. Can anyone help me with a marriage record or any other info that might document that this is the Alice Marks I'm looking for? Her parents were: Richard Marks & Caroline Knapp Marks. She is the only one left in my g.grandmother's family that I don't have any info about. I will greatly appreciate any help given! Bev

I am looking for additional information regarding Eunice Marks. Someone sent me a copy of her death certificate - thanks! Her parents were Richard & Caroline Knapp Marks. Eunice was the sister of my g.grandmother Emma L. Marks Stowe. I was told Eunice married a man whose surname was WELCH, but I found her under the surname "HALL" If an obituary is available I'd really appreciate it. Eunice was also the sister of Alonzo Marks who lived in Wauseon, OH. Thanks for all your time & help.

In 1880, Hugh SAVAGE is shown as "other", a farm laborer with the John DAVOLL family in Amboy, Fulton, OH.

In 1900, still in Amboy, Hugh is now married to Rose. Hugh was 48, born Oct 1851 in Ireland, md 7 yrs, immigrated 1869, farmer. Rose was 40, born Feb 1860, PA PA PA

The 1910 census shows them still in Amboy but Rose stated this was her second marriage; first for Hugh.

A Rose SAVAGE died 7 Apr 1918 in Fulton County.

The only Hugh SAVAGE shown in the OHDI 1913-37, died 16 Dec 1922 in Hamilton County, OH, but probably not your Hugh as his age is off 5 years, he is married to Mary and he was born in Ohio, according to the 1920 Hamilton Co. census.

Thank you for responding to my message on the message board regarding John Davoll and Hugh Savage. The Savage part is the relative, but I, too, had found the 1880 census where Hugh was living with the John Davoll family. I don't know why he was living there. I wondered if the Davoll family was related somehow. I have not been able to find anything yet.

I do have the info on Hugh that you sent. But, I don't have a last name for Rose or anything about her other than she was married to Hugh Savage and is buried in Amboy Cemetery in Fulton Co., OH. Hugh's name is on the marker but was never entered into the grave. I haven't been able to locate where he is buried and why not with Rose. I was told that after Rose died, he started seeing a lady in Toledo, OH, but no name or any info as to whether he married her.

I need to make a trip down to Fulton Co. to do some searching. So far not much luck on the internet.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. The info you gave me was very helpful. Judy

Jim,
just discovered your post from two years ago about Peter Burkholder from Fulton County, Ohio, b. 1793 in Switzerland. I am a direct descendant of his, my father was Clare Burkholder, Peter would have been my father's great grandfather. I would love to share any mutual information. I would love to have access to the research on emigration of the Burkholder family from Switzerland to the US.
Patty

You are so right. Sooner or later something new pops up. BTW, Alzina and Thomas Walter Fauver are buried in Locust Grove Cemetery, Ridgeville Corners, Henry, Ohio. I'm not sure about Fidelia because I was finding so many other people. Check Find-A-Grave if you haven't. That can sometimes fill in holes in information.
Good luck.
Judy

I have a picture taken on the farm I grew up on. The back of the picture is listed my great grandparents, my dad who was about two at the time, my grandparents and Elmer Sigg's name is listed on the back. He at one time lived north of Wauseon near that home. This photo was about 1920-1. It has Mary listed as well, but it's my great aunt and uncle so it's a picture of Elmer only if I'm correct.
After looking on Ancestry.com, it lists Elmer and Mary Sigg on farm number 28. My grandparents farm is listed as farm 27. So, they had to have been neighbors according to the 1930 census. There are four children listed: Carl J age 19, Floyd age 15, Dorothy 13 and Lester age 11.

My great grandmother was Alzina Cornell (born 28 Apr 1820 in Steuben, NY), daughter of James Cornell and Elizabeth Dolbee Cornell. Alzina married Thomas Walter Fauver and they lived in Ridgeville Corners, Henry, Ohio. That is just a few miles from Fulton County, Ohio. She had a sister named Fidelia Corissa Cornell.
Alzina died on 1 Oct 1871 in Ridgeville Corners, Henry, Ohio. Thomas Walter later married her sister, Fidelia.
Don't know if that helps but they were in this area.

Hi, my name is Sharon L. Chamberlain (Rice). My father is Burr Eugene Rice and his father is Ellis Rice who has a brother Otto Rice. I noticed after going to the Fayette, Ohio Cemetery that Otto married Julia B. Rice (no maiden name). They had three children: Rollan George Rice, a daughter Rena B. Rice. I don't think I found the third. Also, I have a Durlene who is deceased on 1-15-2003 and a Wayne Eugene Johnson buried in 1938 (I don't know who they are). We found Catherine Rice Beeman 1897-1963, Park R. Rice 1892-1931, Alice Rice 1855-1927, Frank Rice 1858-1917, Emma A. Rice 1896-1948, J. Roscoe Rice 1892-1960, Joseph H. Rice 1847-1914, Allie Rice 1855, 1929 and then discovered that the Rice Family and the Ford family were related somehow. Here are some Ford family stones we found: B. Burr Ford 188-1952, Beryl (Female, possibly Pearl) V. Ford 1890-1933, Rupert Paul 1898-1927, Irene Ford Rupert 1896-1985, Josept Hazen (son of J.R. and Irene Rice) 1917-1993, John B. Ford 1865-1930 and Addie E. Ford 1866-1978. This absolutely blows me away! I hope it is possible to put this altogether on yours and our Trees. My husband
I Jack W. Chamberlain. I suspect there is a lot of information that will help you. You are welcome to look at our tree.

Gideon CORNELL b. 1798 NJ (and other NJ CORNELLs), to OH 1820s+

Seeking parents for a Gideon CORNELL, b. ca. 1798 in New Jersey. He ended up in Wayne County, OH, married Jane Latta there in 1823, then moved to Wood County, OH.

Several other New Jersey CORNELLs ended up in Wayne County, OH. The Wayne County Cornells have connections to the Trenton, NJ area in Burlington County. My best hypothesis is that Gideon is as well.

In the 1830 census, in Salt Creek, Wayne County, OH, are three Cornells - Gideon (30-40), which appears to be mine, James (20-30) that I've discovered was born in 1805 in Burlington County, and Jonathan Cornell (60-70) meaning he was born 1760-1770. I believe I've identified him as being born 1764 in NJ, with children Caleb (1790), Joseph (1793), Zeno (1795), Philip (1798), Deborah (1800), Sarah (1802), and Joseph (1805). Therefore, Jonathan doesn't appear to be the father of James or Gideon.

Some records for this James Cornell born in 1805 say he is the son of a James Cornell Sr. I found a James Cornell Sr. that had sons Nathaniel (1800 NJ), John (1802 NJ), Ralph (1803 NJ), and James (1805 NJ). Most of them appear to have ended up in Fulton County, OH.

If anybody has information on ANY of these CORNELLs, or other Trenton-area CORNELLs from that time period (1800 or earlier) I'd appreciate it. Gideon does not appear to be a direct descendant of any of them I've found and listed here, but he certainly appears to be tied in indirectly.

Thank you!

Lawrence (Larry) Leroy Born, 54, resident of Delta, Ohio passed away on April 18, 2012, at Flower Hospital after an almost year long battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Larry was born on December 10, 1957, in Toledo, Ohio to parents Ronald and Donna Born. Larry was the third of eight children born to Ron and Donna. After moving throughout the U.S. due to his father's time in the Navy, Larry attended and graduated from Pike-Delta-York High School in 1976. He played slow-pitch softball with friends which is how he met his wife. Larry and Pamela "Pam" were married on April 19, 1986, at Victory Chapel United Brethren Church. Larry and Pam started their life and welcomed their daughter Megan into the world on November 16, 1989. The family moved from the country into town and has resided there ever since. Larry joined the team at the water-treatment plant in Delta on July 4, 1988. Larry continued his work at the water plant and obtained his Class 3 Water License on January 21, 1992. He became a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and taught classes for state water testing. He became the Superintendent of the Water Treatment Plant on January 1, 2000. Larry gained his Class 3 Wastewater License on June 10, 2005 and after the Water and Waste Water Plants combined, Larry became the Superintendent of Public Utilities on June 16, 2005. His work was extremely important to him, he only wanted the best for the village, and he continued to work through this illness with the support of co-workers and village employees. Larry was an avid softball player and umpire, then coach, and then he became a "bucket dad" for his daughter throughout the years as her catcher when she would pitch. He took his daughter to numerous softball camps, and Larry and Pam supported her while she achieved her dream of playing collegiate softball at Marietta College. The Detroit Tigers, The Ohio State Buckeyes, collecting and sorting baseball cards, playing golf, Key Lime Pie, Pepsi Cola, and the music of the Monkees were only some of Larry's favorites. His "man cave" (the basement) became his favorite spot to watch games and hang memorabilia. Larry is survived by wife, Pam (Delta); daughter, Megan (Delta); sister, Sue (Jim) Case (Delta); brother, Doug (Pam) Born (Monclova); sisters, Deb (Chris) Patterson (Delta), Peg Born (Delta), Cheri (Chris) Witt (Delta), and Julie (Scott) Scharf (Toledo); along with many nieces and nephews that loved their "Uncle Bubba". In Heaven, Larry will rejoin his parents, Ronald and Donna Born, and meet brother, Tommy Born for the first time. Visitation will be at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Rt. 109, Delta, Ohio 43515; (419)822-5995 on Saturday, April 21, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, April 22, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Delta United Methodist Church located at 101 Northwood Dr., Delta, Ohio 43515 on Monday, April 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jay Miklovic officiating. Larry will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta, Ohio.

Thank you for the info. I had only the last name of "Haynes" for Orpha's first marriage and somehow came across "Lew Kennedy" as her second husband (plus the dates for him of 1875-1932), probably because they are buried along with her family. Still nothing on the rest of Orpha's siblings.
-- Denise

Since you say you located Frank and Sarah and some children in the Swanton Cemetery, I assume you also found the service information for Dewey (Ohio Pvt Co L 8 Regt Inf SAW) and Robert (Michigan Cook 338 Inf 85 Div) that is listed in the Fulton County Tombstone Inscription books.
I also checked the Fulton County website for obituaries for this family, but found none.
I checked the marriage books - found only information on Orpha. It shows she married Lewis Kennedy on 23 June 1928 (volume XIII pg 179) but it showed it was her second marriage. I found where Orphelia married William Haynes on 17 Sept 1902 (volume 8 pg 362).
I checked in the History of Fulton County book and found information on the Haynes family. It referenced that child William married Orpha Wales and that William died 15 Sept 1905 at age 25 leaving a son, Kenneth.
Did not find any marriages for other children, but hope this adds to your information.
Sincerely,
Trish Sebring

Marsha - I think we met at least once in Fayette when we both were pretty young. My Mother (Velita Irene Whaley Kinney) was your Dad's (Lyle's) niece. Velita was the eldest child of Kenneth M. & Ruby Velma (Hawkins) Whaley. I have been to Fayette a couple of times in the late 1990s, but didn't know where to look for you or Richard. Don't know if you have info about Kenneth & Ruby's descendants but, if I can, I'd be happy to help you in that regard. I know little about Lyle's descendants, so perhaps you could help me with that info. I remarried in 2008 and now am residing in the Moline, IL area. My eldest brother, Bob, lives in CT & is the father of 7. My other brother, Richard (father of 2), passed away in June 2007. Hope to hear back from you. My email is: mirandasue49@yahoo.com
Hello. In my family tree there is a distant relative by the name Samuel Burkholder who was born 1806 in Switzerland and died 1842 in Fulton Co., Ohio. He married Anne Marie Bender b. 1822 France, d. 1903 Fulton Co., Ohio. I have 4 children: Moses, Jacob, Salome, and Christian listed for them. Could Samuel have been a brother to Peter? My Clingaman family is from the West Unity, Williams Co., Ohio area and there are a lot of Burkholders buried there. It would be great to find another limb of the tree.

My direct email is EClingaman@aol.com

Elgin Clingaman

Hi, Elgin. I'll definitely contact you via email. I and other descendants of Clingaman siblings have been emailing and sharing photos and stories. None of us have a photo of Andrew Jackson Clingaman -- exciting! I know we'd love to see it.

I believe Andrew Jackson Clingaman and Daniel Clingaman enlisted on the same day and did their entire service together.

Hello. I just came across your posting and the picture in the previous posting of "Uncle Dan". He was my great-grandfather's uncle. My gg-grandfather was Andrew Jackson Clingaman and was also in the civil war. I think my father still has a tin-type photo of him in his uniform. I live in Ann Arbor, MI and would be interested in seeing other old photos of the family. I go to Williams Co. and West Unity, OH a couple times a year and try to dig up more info on the family. Anyway, it's nice to know that someone has photos of the family. If you would be intersted in corresponding, my email is EClingaman@aol.com

Elgin Clingaman
