I suggest you try the Logan Public Library in Hocking Co for obits for both....dau Ruby ERVIN bur here as well.
According to census there seems to be a 7-9yr difference in b/yr for John [death cert]. I didn't find passenger list, so don't have exact yr, but a tree states he was b on the SS Winfield Scott 1856.
