Cecil E. Mansfield
Cecil E. Mansfield, 78, Route 8, Defiance, died at 9:20a.m. Wednesday in Defiance Hospital, where he had been a patient for one day. He was born in Highland Township on July 30, 1904, the son of Orange and Frederica (Hoeiltzel) Mansfield. In 1932 he married Wreatha Colgan who survives.
He was graduated from Defiance High School in 1922 and received a bachelorÂ’s degree in ceramic engineering from Ohio State University in1930. A member of Bethel Congregational Christian Church in Arthur, he was a former deacon, trustee, Sunday School superintendent and also taught Sunday School for 40 years. He was retired after farming for most of his life.
A member of the Defiance County Democratic Club, he was formerly a member of the Highland Township Grange, the Arthur Mutual Telephone Co., and the Ayersville Board of Education.
Also surviving are a son, Norvin, Cincinnati; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Linda) Walters, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Thomas (Karen) Culler, Auburn, Ind.; seven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and eight step-great-greatgrandchildren; and three brothers, Britton, Ada and Donald, all of Route 5 and Roger, 505 Ralston Ave.
Proceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Robert, Fred and Otha; and four sisters, Belva Mansfield, Victoria Mansfield, Mrs. Ruth Gregory and an infant sister.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bethel Congregational Christian Church. The Rev. Daniel Eichenauer will officiate. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery.
Friends may call at Mast and Mock from 7 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, and at the church one hour prior to services.
Memorials may be made at the church or to the American Cancer Society.

Services for Cecil Mansfield were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bethel Congregational Christian Churrch. The Rev Daniel Eichenauer officiated. Mrs Ruby Skiver was Organist.
Burial was in Myers Cemetery, Paulbearerswere Lee, Keith, Brian, Gary and Marlin Mansfield, and Harvey Scott. Mast and Mock Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements
