SALEM - Dennis C. Johnson, 74, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 22, 2015 at Essex II of Salem.
Born Dec. 25, 1940, in Lisbon, Ohio, he was a son of the late Carl E. and Grace (Griffith) Johnson.
Denny had worked as a supervisor at GM Lordstown, Ohio for 24 years.
He served as chief of staff for Congressmen James Traficant and Charlie Wilson.
He also served as superintendent of Columbiana County Ohio Department of Transportation at one time.
In addition, he was the longest standing Columbiana County Democratic Party Chair.
Survivors include his wife, Marion (Billock) Johnson; his son, Rob Johnson of Salem; and two daughters, Casey and Jessica Johnson, at home.
Also surviving are his brothers, Ronald and Lanny Johnson and a grandson, Connor Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Williams and a brother, Gary Johnson. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Weber Funeral Home in Lisbon. A private burial will be held Wednesday morning at Lisbon Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Denny was most proud of his daughter and her basketball league, so the family requests in lieu of flowers, any material contributions be donated to Drill for Skill, 305 Sixth St., Beaver Falls, PA 15010 or any Columbiana County charity.
