Everts 1880 History of Clermont County contains information about the town starting on the bottom of page 506 which says it was laid out by a Jesse Wood as an attorney for Gen. James Taylor. See

The village straddles the county line between Wayne Twp in Clermont County and Harlan Twp in Warren County where it is referred to as West Woodville. See map for military survey #764 at

The cemetery is on the Warren County side of the line and I believe it is still active. See photos at
