LEWIS, Gladys Beavers Of Chicago, Illinois passed away May 17, 2015.

She was born November 23, 1920 in Springfield, Ohio to Boyd and Essie Beavers, whom preceded her in death.
Gladys was educated in the Springfield Public School System, graduating in 1939.
She was a student at Wilberforce University, graduating in 1939 with the highest grade in the Commerce Department.
With that degree she obtained a job at the Dunbar Life Insurance Company in Cleveland, Ohio where she worked for five years and was transferred to Chicago where she worked for Supreme Life Insurance Company until she retired.
Gladys was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. where she served as secretary. She held this position with pride and loved it very much.
Gladys loved our family, and to go to our family reunions which would meet in many states each year. She loved to travel. She met and married Robert Lewis.
Gladys became a member of the Greater Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago where she was very active in many church activities.

She leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Anna Odessa Clayborne; nephew, Bruce D. Clayborne both of Springfield, Ohio, nephew Terrance D. and Benota Beavers of Lathrup Village, Michigan, Daisy Beavers, John and Jewel Beavers of Owasso, Oklahoma.
Gladys was preceded in death by Gustavis Beavers, Leroy Beavers, Jessie Beavers and Clarence A. Beavers.
