Tina,
Well, the reason I was so curious is that I just received info
on a Jan. 2, 1860 Land Deed transaction in Saline County, Missouri between the owners: Mary Murphy, Wilson T. Dennis, Morgan Mills and wife of said Morgan and Mary Mills -who sell 80 acres of land to a Simon Dennis.
My line is the Morgan Mills line and the other names included here are trying to tell me somthing, but right now I can only guess what it is.
My Morgan Mills b: 1794, whose father - who we think was Elijah Mills, was in Middletown, now Madison twp., Butler Co., OH by 1790 and Elijah died there in 1837. Morgan Mills Marries in c 1812 in Butler Co. and then left Madison twp., in 1823 and settled in Randolph Co., IN. In 1860 Morgan Mills and his 2nd family, are on the 1860 Saline Co., MO census. So, this Land Deed tells me Morgan is somehow closely
related to the other sellers of this land and that the 80 acres may have been bequeathed to them in a Will.
However, 1860 is quite a bit earlier than the time period you are researching. But, families and in-laws in this early day, do tend to travel in groups and this is interesting, to say the least.
If I learn more, I will let you know.
Good luck in your research.
