I am looking for any information on Albert Shepherd and his daughter Maude A. Shepherd. His wife and son died in 1914 . their names are Rachel and the son Carl. I find them in the 1920 census but can not find them after that . Any help would be appreciated

Hi-
I looked for a copy of a death record from 1914 on Carl Shepherd and found it at Family Search Labs. His father's name is listed as "Alfred" Shepherd. Also found a copy of Rachel's death certificate listing husband as "Alferd".1900 census lists children of Alfred and Rachel: Maud, Blanche, Flora and Carl.Rachel is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio. You may try calling their office and request copies of burial records that may provide more info.
Hope this is helpful.

Hello again-
I had a bit more time to do some more looking around for Alfred Shepherd....He is listed in the Williams 1901 Hamilton City Directory as living at 846 Heaton Street, occupation: blacksmith( with wife Rachel). The 1900 census
gives his date of birth as March 1846 in Ohio. Rachel DOB August 1850 in Ohio.Blanche, Aug. 1871;Maud, Dec 1874;Flora, June 1877; Carl is listed as 16 years old but gives his DOB as Aug 1873- I think maybe it was supposed to 1883. All children born in Ohio.Rachel's father said to be born in Maryland.
I looked again at the death cert. copy for Rachel. Her father's name is Uriah Nace and her mother is Marthia (or Martha)South. Another look at Carl Shepherd death cert. states DOB as Aug 20, 1883; parents Alfred Shepherd and Rachel Clara Nace.Carl is also buried at Greenwood. If you care to call the office of Greenwood Cemetery, the number is 513-896-9726. Last time I called there, the lady that I talked to was Mary Ann and she was very nice and helpful.I would say chances are very good that Carl and Rachel are buried on the same lot.Mary Ann could certainly tell you if other Shepherds are buried there as well and give you alot more info. The Lane Public Library in Hamilton has several Hamilton City Directories that could possibly give another indication of the Shepherds in the area. If you are not in this area, let me know and I can go to the library and have a look at them for you. Good luck.

Thank You so much.
I have a copy of the death certificates for Carl and Rachel. I also see that in the newspaper clipping that Blanche is married to a White or While, the print is hard to read . Also it list Maude as a bookkeeper at a jewerly store in the census. I can not find anything on Flora, evenin the Ohio Marriages. I think she may have moved to Missouri ,because after Rachel death and the 1920 census Alfred and Maude are no longer there, but from a local paper here it says he was visiting his sister from Kansas City Mo. I was hoping for an obit for Alfred or Maude because I thinkthey would have been buried thee with wife and son.

Thank you so much for your help and interest. I live in Belmont County and Alfred was born in Noble county not far from us.

Sandy

Hi Sandy-
I went to the library today to explore further. In the 1921-22 Williams Directory, Alfred and Maude are at 920 Heaton St.( Previous address was 846 Heaton). In the 1923-24 Williams Directory, Alfred is apparently renting a room at 248 North Third St. I could not locate Maude. That is the end of the trail, as I looked in several other directories up to 1930. Also looked in a volume of obits appearing in the Hamilton Journal Newspaper from 1920-1930 and could find none of your Shepherds.
I would encourage you to call Mary Ann at Greenwood Cemetery. I think that she could certainly help with the additional info that you can get from Rachel and Carl's burial records. Some years ago I found a grandfather's grave at Greenwood. There were two other stones of relatives near his grave. Mary Ann looked up the burials on that lot......There were a total of thirteen of my ancestors with only three markers!!
Good luck.

Hi Sandy-
Looking around this evening on Ancestry.com, I found Alfred Shepherd and daughter Maud in Indianapolis,Marion County, Indiana. Looks like Ruckle Street in Center Township.1930 U.S. census.
