COSHOCTON: George T. "Tommy" Barrett, age 72, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011.

He was born in Athens County, Ohio, on June 13, 1938, to the late Francis and Lillian Barrett.

Tommy was a 1956 graduate of Jacksonville-Trimble High School and was a veteran serving in the US Army from January 20, 1959 to January 20, 1961.

On September 17, 1959, he married Susan (Skinner) Barrett who survives.

Tommy worked for Simco Service Mine for 25 years and he was the President of the local union # 1188 for 30 years.
Tommy was also the owner and operator of Barrett Excavating for 21 years.
He enjoyed raising, riding, and showing horses, fishing, hunting, working, but most of all, spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Kevin Barrett of Coshocton, Ohio; two daughters, Lisa (Todd) Myers of Nashport, Ohio and Beth Barrett of Coshocton; three grandchildren, Bravyn Barrett, and Jared and Megan Myers; and two brothers, Francis, Jr. and Robert, Sr. Barrett.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant children.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service, at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Don Dolick officiating.
Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens with the Coshocton County Veterans Services performing military honors.
