Hello.

In looking thru my folder of death certificates I have about 30 people in the Geneva and Ashtabula area that I'm in search of obituaries for.

Is there any necrology file online anywhere that I can search ?

Thanks, Denise

The only online necrology file I know of for Northeastern Ohio is the one at the Cleveland Public Library. Unfortunately, most of the brief obits are for folks in Cuyahoga and Lake counties. I doubt many Ashtabula County notices are there. Here is the link:

The Ashtabula County Genealogical Society has a snail mail service for many Ashtabula County obituaries. Use the OBITS button at their home page to search for persons. If the person's obit is found, click the "Request" link in the search results to get a form that explains how to obtain it via regular mail delivery. Time consuming, but inexpensive. I sure wish there was an online source for Ashtabula area obits, but have yet to find one other than the collection at Ancestry.Com, which may or may not contain the ones you seek.

You can try the Ashtabula County District Library site acdl.info/default-old.asp and ohiohistory.org. Both sites list if the obituaries are available; Ashtabula accepts donations & Ohio charges a fee.

Try the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center wwwrbhays.org. They collect obits from Ohioians. I guess he was a geneology fan also. There's a searchable database. I've used it with some success.
