Robert Gwyther and his wife, Martha Catherine nee Smith settled in North Dakota around 1881. They came from Pembrokeshire. They lived in or around Bismark for a couple of years before moving to Fort Rice where they brought up a family of 8 children. I think that they are the only Gwyther family in North Dakota. Does anyone have any references to the family or have an email address for any of the family?

Martha Catherine Smith had several brothers who also settled in the USA:

William Shadrach Smith, in Bismark in 1880, but probably moved further west soon after
Stephen Meshech Smith, also settled in Bismark in the 1880s but then moved to Sundance, Wyoming
George Davies Smith, settled in Bismark and perhaps moved on to Wyoming also
Benjamin Abednego Smith, moved to the USA but destination unknown
