I am not related. While looking through microfilm of the Emmons County Record for relatives I grabbed news items for deaths and marriages of others. Hopefully someone will find this useful.
This appeared in the Emmons County Record on 17 Jun 1904, page 1, column 4. I believe the cemetery is Peace Lutheran, southeast of Linton, but online transcriptions don't show a Jakob Wolfer buried there.
DEATH OF JAKOB WOLFER
Jakob, son of Christ and Louisa Wolfer, died Sunday, June 12, 1904, at the home of his parents, in the Linton neighborhood. The fatal disease was brain fever.
Deceased was born Oct. 12, 1882, in Gueldendorf, South Russia. He was a kind-hearted and lovable young man, and was highly regard by all who knew him.
The funeral took place Tuesday at the farm home of the family. The services were conducted by the Rev. D. Bittner, of Eureke, and the Rev. S. Finkbeiner, of Hereld. The pallbearers were Messrs. W. Bechtle, E. Little, D. Bechtle and J. Littau.
There were nearly 300 people present at the funeral services at the residence, and nearly half a hundred vehicles were in the procession to the grave, the large attendance showing the respect and regard in which the family is held in this community. The interment took place in the Lutheran cemeter, about three miles from the home of deceased.
The surviving members of the family are father, mother, three brothers and two sisters, all of whom have the sympathy of every one in their bereavement.
