I have a book called Prairie Pioneers that has a picture and a blurb about the Otos family in the early 1900's. If you don't have this and would like the article I could scan it and send it to you.
I really don't have any connection to the triplets, other than I found original photos of them in a book on Perkins County, South Dakota that I had purchased from a used book shop in Oregon. I wanted to get the photos back to a family member and posted a query on this board. I mailed them to Louis Otis in Atlanta, Georgia. See his posting on this thread and you can e mail him for copies of the photos. I wish I had your posting first, because I would have mailed them to you, Oh well!! Glad to know they had offspring.
Judy

I am looking for any information on my Great Grandparents who lived in Walsh County, around Adams. I know that my Great Grandfather Anund Kittelson and my Grandfather Alex Kittleson moved from Adams in 1909 after the death of Anna Kittelson (Anund's wife and Alex's mother). I know that my Grandfather came to America from Norway in 1871 and that my grandfather Alex was born in North Dakota on Oct. 11 1887. Anna is buried at St. Peters Lutheran church outside of Adams. I live in Great Falls Montana and my wife is from the Egeland/Cando area. His daughter was my grandmother, her name was Genevieve Reeves. In March of 1908 she married my grandfather, George Layland, who also homesteaded in the Stowers area. What I am particularily interested in, is if he is buried in the Stowers Cemetery and if there is any records of his other 2 daughters, Dorothy and Grace Reeves.
I am looking for my great uncle Carl Wells who moved to North Dakota in the early 1900's from Ohio. He was born about 1881 in Ross Co., Ohio. I have been searching for him because Mom said my dad had an uncle who went to North Dakota, but until now I could not prove it. I found him on the 1920 census of Adams Co., Reeder Twp. with wife Ethel who was from Iowa and son Robert who was born 1920 in North Dakota. Does anyone know anything about this family and any other children they had after 1920? They would be Dad's first cousins. His name was Fred Russel Wells, son of Russel Bigelow Wells, son of Owen D. Wells born Ohio and Mary Matilda Collier Wells. Russel and Carl are brothers. Any help would be very much appreciated and I can share what I know about this family. Lynn Wells Johnson, Beauty, Ky.

You can go to their website and check to see if what they are printing will meet your needs. In lieu of that, you might try contacting Patrice Hartman (patrice@ndsupernet.com).

I am looking for records from the burial of my GGrandmother, Malene Jacobson in 1911 at the cemetery that is at the original site of the Cedar Creek Lutheran Church at Stowers. I have been there and there is a sign that says it is Prince of Peace Cemetery. org. 1907. I have searched both the North and South Dakota for death records, there are none, so I need to fing the church records, and the plaque there said that all the records are kept in American Lutheran Church Archives. I have tried to find them both thru Augustana College here in Sioux Falls and thru St. Paul Mn at the Am Lutheran Seminary and they say they do not have them. That sign at the cemetery is fairly new so I wonder if anyone has any info where I can find those church records. Dianna

Am looking for any relatives of Daisy Puariea Gotchy who lived with her husband Franklin and their children on a farm near Reeder. My grandfather Wayne Puariea was her younger brother. Daisy was killed in a cyclone that hit their farm in 1923. I have some family pictures of their family farm, before and after the cyclone, I also have some of all of Daisy's sons, and of Roy and Ediths daughter Edith. I would like to get these to one of the children/grandchildren. They can contact me through my email . I know these old pictures will mean alot to someone. Dianna Gray

Hi Richard,

I met you about 7 years ago while trying to locate my father Charles Beisigl. You were very kind in inviting me over to your home in El Cajon. I hope that you and your family are doing well. After my visit with you and your wife I tried to gather more information as to the whereabouts of Charels but was not successful.

It is now years later and in my attempt to try and reach you again, I instead was united with your son Troy. He was very kind in speaking with me and I gave him my phone number to give to you. Please feel free to call me at anytime.

I come to you again, respectfully, to ask if you have any other information available about Charles. I would love to meet with you again if it is allright with you. My phone number is (760) 757-7098.

Thank you so much for your time and understanding.

Nan (Nannette)

My name is Louis Howard Otos. I live near Atlanta Georgia. My father's name is Martell Eugene Otos (d.May 2004). His father's name was Harry Otos and I heard through family talk of the triplets who were, I think, his siblings. I was told that I was named after their father, my great grandfather but nobody was certain what the H was for so my middle name became Howard. I have an aunt and uncle in Oregon
Otos, Bill & Maurine
19619 SE Cottonwood St
MILWAUKIE, OR 97267
They seem to have the deepest well of family history of anyone I know.
This coming summer I am going out to transcribe cemeteries in Adams Co. E-Mail me with the information you are looking for. I'll see what I can find out for you. We have too much snow to do any looking now - I have tried but the flat headstones are covered with snow.

Thank, Kathleen

Does anyone know the address of the Adams County Historical Society. I am getting pictures from a relative of the school at Stowers with the children in front of it and of Mason Stowers, the man the town was named for. I know that Stowers no longer exists and alot of people didn't even know it was there. These pictures must be from about 1907-1910. I know that it was in South Fork Township near the Cedar Creek Evangelical Norweigan Lutheran Church. I will send copies to the Historical Society if someone can tell me where to send them. Thanks, Dianna Gray

It is a nice quiet small friendly town and they do have a High School although we did no research there. Try writing, addressing it Hettinger High School.
WILLARD A. NAVE - Seeking information concerning Willard A. Nave, born in Rich Hill, Bates County, Missouri, son of Joseph S. Nave and Mary Brown, about 1877.

Willard NAVE was married to Nora Leota SUMMERLOT in Fayette County, IL 16 Sep 1905. They were divorced in May 1912. At that time, Willard was living in the Dakotas. In 1912, he purchased land in Harding County, SD, and appears in the 1920 federal census of Adams County, North Dakota, where his occupation is listed as "mason".

I have been unable to find any trace of Willard NAVE after the 1920 census.

Nora Leota SUMMERLOT-NAVE-NIHISER passed away in about 1977, never having related any information that would lead Willard's descendants to locate him.

I appreciate any leads that will assist in finding what became of Willard A. The were buried in the
>> Hettinger Cemetery, in the town of Hettinger in Adams County, North
>> Dakota.
>>
>> I was told the graves are located in the original cemetery in Block
>> B, Lot
> 23. As you enter the cemetery from the north gate (off Highway 12),
> they are on the east side of the road just a short ways into the
> cemetery.
>>
>> I was also told they are buried next to each other and have grave
>> marker's
> with just their name's and dates (Clementine KENISTON 1831-1908, and
> George N.

William,

I don't have any personal knowledge of these two men, but I've been a census researcher for about 5 yrs. and the clue may be in the birthplace of these men's parents, and their
immigration years.

Martin and Olaus told the census taker that they are both born in Norway, they both said their father was born Sweden, and they both said their mother was born Norway. Since they are only 8 yrs. apart in age, there's a possibility they are brothers.

Martin, the older, immigrated in 1882 at the age of 20,
when Olaus was only 12. Then Olaus immigrated in 1888
when he was 18. Since they are both living next door to
each other, that could also indicate that they are brothers.
Families tended to all live together in the same area or
neighborhood when they came to America and adult family members usually came over one or two at a time starting with the oldest. They would work a few years and save enough
money to send for the next family member.

The 1900 census shows Martin and wife, Olive living in
Hennepin Co., MN, but Olaus isn't listed in the index. He
may have been missed by the census taker or the index
transcriber used an unusual spelling for the surname and the
search engine isn't picking up on it.

The 1920 index shows Olaus, wife Betsey and son Oscar still living in Adams Co., ND but I couldn't find Martin in the
index.

The 1930 index doesn't show any results for Martin or his
wife, but shows Betsey as a widow and working as a servant in the home of an Emile BROWN in Ashby, Hettinger Co., ND.

Hope some of this info is helpful.
Good Luck,
Marilyn

August and George Beisigl owned land in Adams County.

According to land patent records, August obtained 80 acres of land on November 18, 1909 in township 131, range 91, section 20, township name Beisigl. According to my old ND atlas, sheep creek runs right through his land. The closest town in this county is Haynes which is a loooooong way away.

George homesteaded on the same section. He was issued a homestead patent on April 14, 1910. He homesteaded 160 acres of land.

With the NDSU Biographies, both George & August have biographies on file. If you haven't obtained these yet, you should.

No, I'm not a relative. I am from the ND and do a lot of geneological research. It appears that plenty of information is out there on this surname.

Good Luck!

Michele Wittman Vietz
mish@btigate.com

The name of the township is Holt.

I can send you a detailed scan of Adams County with all the sections if you would like. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat, you'll need to download it so you can easily view it.

Do you have the Joe & Samuel Skogen & Daniel Fuglesten biographies from the "Prairie Pioneer: A Story of Adams County"? I see that you are from outside the US. I can obtain these biographies for you & scan them also. Again, you'll need to have Adobe Acrobat to view it.

I'm not related to any of these folks. I love North Dakota Genealogy & consequently have a lot of resources.

Good Luck with your research!

Dear Margit,

Following is the entry for Mrs. B. O. Eid. This selection seems to contradict the article on her husband, as in the latter article, Ernest Eid indicates his mother is living in Dickinson, ND. Dickinson is about 100 miles north of Lemmon, SD, while the information about Mrs. Eid indicates she is living about 20 miles north of Lemmon, still in Beisigl Twp. This was, of course, prior to the publication of the "Prairie Pioneer," in which my grandmother wrote the date she received her copy as April 18, 1975.

Letha Chunn-Mendivil
County Coordinator
Adams County, ND, GenWeb Site www.rootsweb.com/~ndadams/

PIONEER OF BEISIGL DISTRICT (No author given)

Mrs. B. O. Eid resides on a farm twenty-two miles north of Lemmon, South Dakota. She was born in Pigeon Falls, Wisconsin on July 18, 1887, and given the name of Anna, by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Tangen, both of Norwegian descent. Anna was united in marriage to Mr. B. O. Eid in Pigeon Falls, in the year 1910.

In that same year, Mr. and Mrs. Eid left White Hall, Wisconsin, and traveled by train to the Dakotas and arrived in Lemmon, South Dakota on June 24, 1910. The made their home where Mrs. Eid's present home is now sited. She is the only pioneer now living on her homestead in the Beisigl township.

Her first home was a frame building, covered with sod making the walls very thick. Mr. Eid was a farmer and carpenter. After the township was organzied as the Beisigl township, there were no further events.

The first settlers in the township were the Beisigl brothers, who had thousands of acres of land upon which they raised cattle. Waighten was established as the first post office. The first school was the Beisigl School, then located two miles north and one mile west of Mrs. Eid's home. It was made of lumber and had a seven month term. A church was never established in the township.

Mrs. Eid was not an exceptionally early settler in the community. Several other families had already made their homes there when she arrived, so there were several close neighbors. The neighbors often visited with one another because no towns were at a convenient traveling distance. Sometimes everyone would gather at one home for supper, and visiting. A carnival night came to a far off town but it was not often any of the families would be able to attend one.

Water could be gotten from a well. The most used fuel was coal which was hauled by wagon from the local mine. Trees were not plentiful, so wood was never burned continually.

The Glen Ullin Trail passed within a few miles of Mrs. Eid's home. Dust stained weary travelers, which often stopped at the Eid's well. Mrs. Eid often wondered at the exceedingly dark skin of the people. After living in North Dakota for a few years, Mrs. Eid learned that the Dakota sunshine could darken anyone's skin very easily. Another odd thing about the Glen Ullin Trail travelers were the swinging contraptions tied on their horse's nose. These bags would seem very uncomfortable to a horse, but evidently it was very important to its comfort.

--END--

Dear Dennis,

Hello again! We have corresponded before on your line. In "Prairie Pioneers," there is a very short entry on your ancestors, which includes a wedding picture of Oscar and Hannah. They were a very handsome couple! I am including the article verbatim.

Letha Chunn-Mendivil
Coordinator, Adams County, ND, GenWeb
www.rootsweb.com/~ndadams/

MR. AND MRS. OSCAR SCHJELDAHL

Oscar Schjeldahl was born in Highlandville, Iowa on May 6, 1882 where he grew to manhood. He married Hannah Thorsen in 1907. Together they came to Clermont Township and homesteaded on a farm 2 miles northwest of Haynes in Section 19. They raised a family of five children and they all went to school in Haynes. Stanley lives on a farm a mile out of Haynes, still farming his dad's land; Earl lives in Vancouver, Washington; Aldene (Mrs. Burt McDonald) of Eldridge, N.D.; Lyle lives in Middlehadden, Conn.; and Lorraine (Mrs. Fred Peterson) in Sarasota, Florida.

In 1950, Oscar sold his farm and moved to Eldridge, N.D. to make his home and went into business with the McDonalds, where he lived and worked until he passed away on March 30, 1957.

Hannah Schjeldahl was born June 12, 1879 and passed away in January 1947.

Submitted by Stanley Schjeldahl

This is an exact transcription of the entry you requested. There is also an entry for Mrs. B. O. Eid following it. Let me know if you want that as well.

BERNT O. EID, written by Ernest Eid

Bernt O. Eid was born in Gjovik Sonndreland, Norway. Immigrated to US in 1903 at 21 years of age. Settled in Pigeon Falls, Wisconsin. Was a carpenter by trade--also worked in the woods in Northern Wisconsin in the wintertime while there.

Bernt and his brother, Christ, left Wisconsin and arrived by train in Lemmon, South Dakota on April 3, 1908. Homesteaded that spring on NE1/4 of Section 26, Beisigl Twsp, Adams County, North Dakota. Built a one room sod house that summer, later on also built a barn of sod.

On November 15, 1908, his brother and a neighbor, Douglas Lawrence, were digging their winter supply of coal, by accident Bernt was buried to his chest unde the coal. He suffered a broken leg, broken ribs, a punctured lung, ruptured kidney, and other internal injuries. They hauled him to Lemmon by team and wagon and put him in a home that was used as a hospital at that time. Nobody had any thoughts he could ever live, was in bed for about 6 months and little by little was able to get up and around. Dr. Sanbo was his doctor.

In the spring of 1910 Bernt returned to Wisconsin. On June 10, 1910 was married to Anna Tangen of Pigeon Falls, Wisconsin. I understand weddings in those days were something else, usually lasted 3 days at the bride's home, dance all night and eat all day. Bernt and his bride returned to North Dakota immediately after their wedding and made their home at the homestead in Adams County. Bernt and Anna had four children: 2 boys--Olger and Ernest; 2 girls, Mildred and Beatrice. All of these children with the exception of Beatrice were brought in this world by a midwife, Mrs. Anna Olson, a neighbor lady.

In the early years of the homesstead, Bernt worked a lot at his trade as a carpenter and helped build the Payne store building in Lemmon, more recently known as the Golden Rule building.

With Bernt gone from home so much, I recall Mother telling how frightened she was when strangers would stop at the homestead and ask to water their horses. Most of these men wore beards and pretty tough looking characters. Their homestead was only about 1/4 (one-fourth) mile from the Glen Ullin freight line trail and the only well for many miles.

Bernt served on the school board much of his life and the first to organize the Farmers Union in Beisigl Township. During all of his farming life he farmed with his horses. Never would drive a tractor. Planted all of the grain crop with his four (4) horse team and drill which included his own land of two quarters also one quarter of his brother's and neighbor's rented land of 400 acres. He loved his horses. Brother Christ worked the land ahead with tractor.

Homestead days were tough on the prairie and for the women it usually meant having small homes to do their work in, washing clothes on the washboards and heating tubs of water on laundry stoves or coal stoves, often used cow chips and corn cobs for fire. Baking bread was always a bad job when bread burned on one side and was raw on the other.

Mother's profession as a milliner and dressmaker kept her very busy sewing for neighbor families. Whenever any extra time, she was sewing, knitting, and crocheting. The quilting frame was set up in the small living room in the wintertime; this left little room for other activities so in the evening the family helped do the quilting.

Winter supply of coal was kept in a cellar beneath the kitchen floor. It was a big job for someone to carry pails of coal up a ladder twice a day or more often if it was wash day. After very cold winter nights, morning would find ice in the waterpails and washdishes.

Mother was a member of the Selma Ladies Aid, north of Thunder Hawk, South Dakota and later the Cedar Creek Lutheran Ladies Aid. Entertaining Ladies Aid was always a big event, an all day meeting with noon meal and the men enjoying a day of visiting as well as the women.

Mother was chosen to do the letter writing for many neighbors as she could write Norwegian as well as English. Many letters were written to the old country as well as the USA. With so much company, life wasn't dull. We had a big wooden barrel churn on a stand and it turned with a crank. You had to stop every few minutes and take out a cork to let the air pressure out or it would blow the cream out if you did not do this. One time Mother was writing a letter for a bachelor neighbor, Martin Matson, and Mr. Matson volunteered to churn butter for Mother for her writing a letter for him. He was sitting on a chair reading a newspaper and cranking the churn, not knowing about the cork, pretty soon it exploded spraying cream all over the walls and ceiling of the kitchen. Boy he did use some language I hadn't heard up until that time of my life. One of the funniest things to ever happen in our young lives but Mother couldn't laugh until the clean up job was over.

School days were rather interesting and unusual also. The Eid kids had 3 miles to go to school. The school house being one room with a lean-to hall for clothes and a coal bin. School usually was 8 months of the year. When the kids were old enough they drove a horse and buggy and in the winter a horse and cutter when enough snow. When weather was real bad however, Dad always took us with a team of horses. The school teacher usually stayed right in the school house. The bedroom was a corner of the school room enclosed by a curtain only.

Bernt Eid died August 30, 1932. Son, Olger died in 1966. Anna Eid is in good health and resides in Dickinson, North Dakota, near her daughter Beatrice, at this writing in January of 1974.

I am researching the Zophar John WARD family of White, Brookings co, SD. Zophar J. WARD 1862-1929 had at least 8 children from 2 marriages. His 2nd wife was Cora WINGAD. One of his daughters by that marriage was Margaret WARD b 24 Nov 1900 in White, Brookings co, SD who married Alfred BERG of Newell, Butte co, SD. Margaret WARD- BERG was an elementary school teacher at Winkler -a country school house. Margaret and Alfred BERG had one son Zophar BERG. According to Marian Winkler, one of Margaret WARD's brother's had a son, Ed WARD who lived in Reeder, Adams co, ND who she visited maybe 20 years ago. I would like to get in touch with Ed WARD's family. Please contact: Mary K. Ward, 1432 Yeardley Drive, Richmond, Virginia 23225; ph 803-232-9338. Thanks!

Does anyone know anyone that went to that church when it was Peace Lutheran? I am running out of places to look for the church records. Thanks..Dianna Gray

Hi Everyone,

It's fantastic that there's been so many responses in the last couple days; I'd shuffled the postcards away into a photo album and this has given me the opportunity to go back and look through them again. I've rescanned the postcard and have put it up on my website, it's at full resolution and is 1,011.4 kb in size so just be aware of that when/if you go to look at it.

Looking at the card again you can read that the front says "Happy New Year West Side, Main Street, Hettinger, ND" Unfortunately there's no postage mark on the back to indicate what year it was sent but it was sent by a SG Graham who was a teacher in Heaton, ND.

The full resolution scan of the postcard can be seen here:

http://www.windingvine.com/hettinger.jpg

I'd be happy to send a printed copy on photo paper to anyone who would like it, I have contact information both here and on the website so please feel free to get hold of me and I'll send it out right away.

Thank you all for your interest!

Kathryn

Fred & Albert came to work on the ranch for several years.
The ranch home place is now owned by the Kilzer family, but it still stands. The orginal house is still there.

Hansina Quamme and her grandson Leonard B. Quamme moved to Adams Co., North Dakota from Goodhue Co., Minnesota between 1900 and 1910. There, Leonard patented land, married Anna Josephine Fordahl in about 1914 and established a large family. He died in Hettinger in 1967 at the age of 76.

Hansina was born in Hauglum in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway in 1843. She, her husband Guttorm and their daughter Bertha (Leonard’s mother) immigrated to America thru Bergen and Quebec in 1866. They settled first in Vernon Co., Wisconsin moving on to Goodhue Co. sometime between 1870 and 1880. She was widowed and living in Red Wing, Minn. with her grandson Leonard in 1900.

I have some info on this family’s ancestors and descendants but have no idea of where or when either Guttorm or Hansina died. I would like to exchange info with people who know this family.

Thanks and happy hunting, Don
Thanks for the quick reply. I just found an 8x10 black and white photo of Carl Wells with Bob and also Great Grandmother Wells (I had previously mislabeled the photo Grandma Walch when I printed it.) I see that I can send an attachment, or do you have another email address other than the searcher63?

Lori

PS. My dad is so excited about this message, he just called Almeada and she was running to her computer...:)

Hi Lori, I have just sent Almeada an e-mail, but forgot to send a copy to your dad. I'm just so excited to hear from someone in Carl's family, I truly didn't expect to find them. Carl is my greatuncle and any information about his family will be very much appreciated. I can answer some questions about his relatives in Ohio, or what I know about them. This part of my family has been the hardest to research because most of them died years ago. I just know Mom said that my Dad, Fred, had an uncle Carl who went to North Dakota, so I just took a chance and wrote the e-mail. I'm so glad I did. I hope to hear from all of you, your cousin, Lynn

Lynn, I guess you know my father, Don Walch, is quite eager to hear from you. My father's first cousin, Almeada Wells Fadness, was raised as my father's sister after her mother Ethel died, and Carl could no longer care for his very young daughter--although he tried for quite awhile to care for her.

Don

I got a letter from Helga and then called her today. It looks like this family died out but thanks for the note. This is the latest information I have.

Carl Ingelson: b. Dec. 25, 1875, d. Nov. 1950. He m. Hilda, b. in Norway abt. 1878. In the 1910 census they are living in Reeder Township of Adams Co., ND. A photograph of a homesteader shack is labeled near Reeder. The photo shows his wife and a child. This Reeder is in Adams County, ND near Hettinger. On April 14, 1913 he homesteaded 160 acres and is shown on the 1917 plat map with 160 acres in Lightning Creek Township of Adams County. (Township 129N, Range 98W) His wife died about 1914 or 1915 and likely their child about the same time. Their tombstone in the Rose Hill Cemetery says Carl Ingelson’s wife and child. In about 1931 or 1932 Carl moved to live with Ole Winje about two miles west of his farm. In 1940 Ole moved to Reeder because of his health and Carl moved with him. When Ole died in 1942, Carl rented a room in the Reeder Hotel. Carl was still alive and in Reeder on 4 Dec. 1941.

I am researching my great-grandmother, who was born and raised in Hettinger. She was born on October 19, 1897 to a Charles Johnson and Tillie (maiden name unknown). I have contacted the clerk of court and the state for birth record information, but unfortunately no information exists before 1907. We believe she finished high school in Hettinger, before she moved to Forbes, ND sometime during WWI. Her family apparently moved to Arlington, WA, before 1917. She also had two brothers, who may have been born in Hettinger as well: Floyd E. and Guy Johnson. She also had at least two aunts, Mary HUBBARD of Ellendale, and Louise Johnson of Forbes. Pearl later married James Verner MILES of Britton, SD and lived in Ellendale, ND until she died in 1945. Does anyone know how to best find information of graduating classes from Hettinger High? Do any kind of records exist before 1907? Any info appreciated!

I cannot locate my great-grandmother's brother, George Schneider, who emigrated Austria and settled in America. The Bureau of Land Management shows two homesteads granted to a George J. Schneider in 1912 and 1914 in Adams County. Does anybody know anything about George J. Schneider?

William Benjamin Ladson

I have checked the BLM land patents for Adams County and there is listed William B Ladson and Allen Farrow. My great grandmother was Molly Rebecca Ladson/Cool/Farrow. She was born in Flushing Michigan in 1874. She married William Cool in 1893 but he died of an epileptic seizure in 1907. At that time I lose track of her. Her father had lived in Michigan but died in 1904. I was just told that she had a brother William Benjamin and from looking at the records for his children they mostly settled in the Southwestern North Dakota and Northwestern South Dakota. Children of William B Ladson and Carolyn Farow are Glen Albert Ladson, Raymond (?), LaVern Elliott Ladson, Russell Allen Ladson, Gladys Alma (Ladson) Mattice and Floyd Ulysses Ladson.

I'm looking for history on William Benjamin Ladson's parents. I know they are George W(ashington) Ladson and Catherine Balanger but I want to know where their family came from prior to 1865. Near as I can figure, Catherine might be buried in Adams county where she moved after George W Ladson died. And I believe that Molly Ladson/Cool moved there after her husband died also. She married Allen Farrow and moved several places. She's buried in Havre Montana near her two sons from the marriage with William Cool. I have photos of her (and William B Ladson's) parents that I would like to share.

Thanks

Dawn (California)

They often came to Wisconsin to visit my father and brought jars of black water, colored with coal. I don't know if they ever married. In fact, I just learned about their existence!

Can someone please offer help with Adams County Bureau of Land Management records? According to the records a Frank Howey had patent deeds for land at Meridian 05, Twp 130 N, Range 091W, Section 027. The transaction dates for the deeds were 1913 and 1916. I think that it is possible that this is my great-grandfather. His son told me that his mother homesteaded in Lemmon - but I thought he said South Dakota. Unfortunately, he is not alive to question further. Do those coordinates correspond with Lemmon? How can I find out more about these transactions? Does anyone have any suggestions on finding more information based only on an old recollection and these land records? I truly appreciate your help.
Connie eddy@unique-software.com
