I am also looking for info on Cora(married Griffin Tedder 1868-1916.) According to county birth records on Ancestry, Griffin Tedder is listed as the father of Elbert R. Tedder (1913-1999). Elbert and his sister were adopted out when they were children. According to Elbert's memory, when small they were taken forcefully by someone from the county and adopted into other homes. I found a picture on Ancestry of Ella Mae Tedder, adopted by Don and Charity Herring. Ella (1914-1995).

PaSain, I appreciate all the time and trouble to do this investigation of the LILES in Wilson NC. I have read and reread all the names etc. I do believe you are correct that Wesley married Mary Jane Brown Taylor and they had Joseph Kincaid Liles after they separated or divorced. I have tried to locate divorce records etc. Also, tried to find Joseph Kincaid birth certificate to see if Wesleys name was shown.I do believe that Jonathan Liles was Wesley's father but again I am having problems. I think it all revolves around Wesley's Sr. divorce. I was hoping to discover any of Joseph Kincaid's brothers or sisters birth certificates that might show Wesley's name and Mothers name? If you ever need any info on Joseph Kincaid's children--I do have all the info on his 12 children. My husband has a great memory and remembers his grandmother Mary Catherine and her Brown relatives. His father was Purvis Graham and he was the oldest of 12. We still visit his friends in Wilson NC- and will be in Wilson June 4th and I will visit cemeteries. Also, several places show different dates for Wesley's birth etc. When I learn what I am doing I will try to correct things I know for sure. My husband James Donald LIles remembers a lot. Again, thank you for all the info. If you have any questions for me please email me:patsyloyce@yahoo.com I am having problems learning to find my threads and messages, but I am learning.

Will you take a few more minutes and review the census records again.

My opinion is that Wesley Liles and Mary Jane Taylor were parents of Joseph Kincaid Liles. He was their last child and they separated. Don't know if there was an official divorce or if Mary J Taylor Liles died and then Wesley married Willie Brown mid 1880's.

See what your 2nd opinion might be and do further investigation.

Wesley married Willie Brown, in Wilson county, but there is no exact date given.

J K Liles married Mrs. Mary C Duncan 19 Mar 1902 Wilson County record says his mother was Jane Liles father not named.
Joseph Kincaid Liles is the correct name. I looked over his Draft registration card and the K looks like an R. On the other things that he signed it was the way he made his K's. they did look like an R. I do have his death certificate and it J. K. I have all 12 of his siblings info. I just can not find his J. K.' father or mother. If you can find please email patsyloyce@yahoo.com Thanks so much, Patsy LILES

Looking for information on the Poorhouse that was located in Wayne County, NC in 1850 on the north side of the Neuse River. After 1855, would this location and facility have been located in Wilson County? If so, do the records for the Poorhouse still exist? Seeking information on Jesse Boswell and wife Margaret listed as residents of the Wayne County, NC Poorhouse in the 1850 US Federal Census.

Helping a friend research her Boone Family. Looking for any information on a William Monroe Boone (b. Jun 1857) and his ancestors. Some researchers have him born in Wilson Co, NC but I haven't found any evidence to support that. A family story has him born in Virginia, but traveled to NC when he was 14 yr old.

He is listed in the 1900 TN Census with wife and children, but I haven't been able to find him in the 1860, 1870 or 1880 census.

If she is indeed Elizabeth Stansbury, then I believe she is the daughter of John Harrison Stansbury and Ann Earnest of Wilkes County, NC. I believe this because my ancestor is John Harrison Wilson son of Levi and Elizabeth. John H Stanbury was born in 1785/90 and died in 1849. He was the son of Nathan Stansbury and Julia Harrison of Wilkes Co, NC. John Sr. married Ann Earnest in 1811. There are researchers that say Elizabeth was born 1802 and married William McHargue and died in 1881 in Laurel, kY. but this can not be true due to John Harrison did not marry Ann Earnest until 1811. I believe this Elizabeth was daughter of Nathan and Julia and sister to John H. Sr.

Here is John Harrison Stansbury Sr and Ann Earnest list of Children:
1. Jesse born 1813 m. Martha Hodges
2. David nelson born 1815 m. Mary Lawrence
3. Joshua Sentor m. Mary Brown
4. Nathan William m. Olive Howell
5. John H. Jr. born 1829 m. Cynthia Goss
6. Ann Harriett born 1818
7. Edith m. Hugh Phillips
8. Elizabeth born 1812 m. Levi Wilson (?)
9. Mary born 1814 m. David Cook
10. Margaret M. born 18825 m. James Harvey McGuire

What do you think?

Robin

Hi,

Yes, I'd love to see any info you have on Levi's parents, siblings, etc. the fellow hiding out with Jonathon Israel Wilson has been identified to me by his grandson as a cousin who was only identified to me as a Stansbury. The story was told to me by my grandfather, Jonathon Wilson (son of Junelia Wilson and her 1st husband, Franklin Monroe Norris) and by his half- brother, Joe Taylor. My grandfather lived with Jonathon Israel for a while as a little boy.

The descendants of Jonathon Israel Wilson hold a reunion every year near his home up along the Watauga/Ashe county borders in July. If you can come, I'm sure you'd be more than welcome.

rwmercer@yahoo.com

Thank you so much for responding! I am related thru Levi's other son, John H. and wife Sophia Gragg. John was killed in the Civil War and Levi raised his two daughters. I did find further info on his parents. Do you need this info? Also you mentioned they brought food for "two"? Who was the other hiding out with Jonathan? I will now start researching Levi's wife Elizabeth now that I have a possible last name. Again, thank you.

I always heard Levi's wife was a Stansbury, but have not found proof or who her parents were. There is a story in our family about Levi's son, Jonathon Israel Wilson that lends some support for this. He was supposed to have been reluctant to fight in the Civil War and hid out for a while with a Stansbury cousin to avoid being found. However apparently someone reported seeing his relatives taking the two food and they were forced to go. Have you found anything? My line is through Johnathon Israel through Junelia Wilson and her first husband Franklin Monroe Norris through his son, Jonathon Wilson Norris and then my mother Erma Faye Norris.

My maternal grandmother was named Cora Estelle Jones and was born on November 3, 1918 in Wilson. Unfortunately her mother died in childbirth. Her father, I believe named Louis Jones, was overwhelmed with the loss of his wife and his responsibilities to the rest of his family and declined to take her home from the hospital.

Subsequently she was adopted by Wylie and Lula Proctor. Ironically, I am related to the Proctors on my father's side, and know a bit of their ancestry. But I know absolutely nothing about the Jones family. I don't even know my great grandmother's name.

My grandmother grew up as a Proctor. She married my grandfather James Arthur "Firpo" Williams and was known as Estelle Proctor Williams for the remainder of her life.

At some point in her life, the Jones Family reached out to her, but she stubbornly shunned them as she remained bitter for, in her words, "having been thrown away by them".

Therefore I ask your help in finding out whatever I can about Louis Jones and his wife.

Thank you.
