I am looking for information about my great-grandfather, John Evans, who was born about 1842. I'm not sure where he was born or when or where he died, or where he is buried. I know nothing about him except his name. He is listed on the 1880 census as John Ivins, age 38, living in Saratoga, Wilson County, NC. He was married to Nancy Anne Whitley, who was born in 1853 in Speights Bridge, Greene, North Carolina, USA. She died in 1947 and is buried in a Bailey Cemetery in Greene County, NC. They had at least 8 children; one of them was my grandfather Wiley Columbus Evans. Does anyone have any information about this John Evans? Who were his parents? Where was he from? My maiden name is Evans, and I would like to be able to trace my Evans line back farther than a great grandfather. Thank you for any help you can give me.
