Can anyone help me find the parents for my great great grandmother Rhoda Ann Shepard 1835 (Pennsylvania) - 1905 (Loup Co., Nebraska). She married William Knox Jackson (b. 1834 in Clinton Co., Ohio), and had several children including Christina, James, and my great grandfather William Henry Jackson (b. July 3, 1858 in Clinton Co., Ohio) and died May 23, 1943, in Berrien Co., Michigan).

My father died in 1996, but my uncle Chandos L. Jackson told me my great grandfather was a Native American. He was in an unmarked grave beside his wife (marked grave) in the Buchanan, Michigan cemetery. A couple years ago my sister and I discovered this and got a stone for his grave. We now assume he was unmarked because Buchanan had another cemetery for Native Americans.

My uncle and I have both taken DNA tests and turned up a Native American marker. Mine indicates Haplogroup Q, the subclave associated with Pima, Mayan, Guatemalan, the Kartiana and Surui tribes in Brazil.

Please let me know if anyone has information that might help me identify my great great grandmother Rhoda Shepard as the source of our Native American DNA. I also have one African (Sub Saharan) marker, so the discussion of Mulatto on the message board interested me.

Thanks so much!
