Hello Everyone
I am looking for information regarding my gggrandfather John A. Reeves and his siblings Lamb Reeves and Miranga Reeves.
According to the 1870 Census in North Carolina, Wayne County, Indian Springs Township, microfilm #118 - John A. Reeves (age 9), Lamb Reeves (age 11), and Miranga Reeves (age 6) are living with David Newell and his wife Mary. The researcher could not explain why the Reeves children were living with the Newell. This information came from an extensive research document created in 1986 by Charley E. Reaves titled 'The Reaves in Wayne and Duplin Counties, North Carolina', which I will be happy to share.
I have since found marriage records for David Newell and his wife Mary. Turns out Mary's last name was Reaves (notice the different spelling from Reeves). This newfound information comes from the Wayne County, NC marriage register 1867-1872. It documents the marriage as:
David Newell to Mary E. Reaves on 28 August 1868 Page 7
Parents of Groom: Bryant Newell and Edith Newell
Parents of Bride: Unnamed and Nancy Reaves
Place of Marriage: Mary E. Reaves
Married by: A.T. Grady, J.P.
I am particularly interested in finding the parents of John, Lamb, and Miranga.
