I am looking for information regarding Civil War soldiers that came out of Watauga County. I am working on a couple of projects: 1) a book on the 37th North Carolina Troops, 2) a Biographical record of Watauga County Civil War Soldiers, 3) a history of Watauga County from 1849 - 1870. Any information is welcomed.
Also, I am currently compiling a list of Watauga County Civil War soldiers. I have uncovered over 840 that came from Watauga County (91% Confederate). This information contains names, dates, service records, parents, wives. children, birth date and place, date of death and place, etc. While there are some soldiers I do not have a lot of info on, I do have something on every one of them. I am willing to share any information with interested parties. Please contact me.
