I am searching for information on my line of Roland's from Watuaga County. Cutliff Harmon was my 5xgreat-grandfather, and i am descended from him via his grandson, Council Harmon, my 3x great grandfather, via his Daughter, Syrena "Rena" Harmon, who married William "Bill" Rowland, born 1845, Watuaga county. William Rowland/Roland was the son of William Roland Sr., born 1805, and Mary Teaster, or Mary Harmon (Last name of Mary unconfirmed). The name Roland appears to be spelled at least three ways on the census records: Rollin, on 1850 Watuaga census, Roland on 1860 watuaga census, and Rowland, on Madison county 1880 census. The Children of William Roland Sr., born 1805, and wife Mary Harmon or Teaster, are shown as follows on the 1850 Watuaga County census:

Hetleful? Rollin, born 1835

Michael Rollin, born 1837 *married Ellen Harmon, daughter of Council Harmon.

Susan Rollin, born 1838

Elizabeth Rollin, born 1841

William Rollin, born 1845 *this is my great great grand-dad, and he married, Syrena "rena" Harmon, another daughter of Council Harmon.

The two sibling brothers, William and Michael, with Harmon sisters as brides, eventually located in Madison County, and are shown there on the 1880 census. I am searching particularly for info on their father, William Roland Sr., born 1805, married to Mary Teaster, or possibly Harmon. Looking for origins on this Roland line, any and ALL info much appreciated! Regards to all,

Kate Roland
