Harmon Hancock passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Walnut
Cove Healthcare Center.
She was born January 13, 1922 in Kannapolis,
North Carolina to Lloyd
Crawford Harmon and Ann
Bost Harmon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Marion Daniel Hancock; her brother, Lloyd
Crawford Harmon, Jr. (Buddy); and sisters,
Iris H. Oehler and Lucille H. Burris.
She is survived by her children, M. Danny
Hancock and wife Ann of Mooresville, Julie H. Donnelly and husband Peter of
Raleigh, and Lloyd H. Hancock and wife Beth of Walnut Cove; grandsons, Robert D. Hancock and wife Christy of Charlotte, James L. Hancock of Walnut Cove; granddaughters, Nancy L. Hancock of Winston-Salem, Sarah E. Donnelly of
Washington, D.C., Laura C. Donnelly of East
Lansing,
Michigan, and
Kerry E. Hancock of Walnut Cove; one great granddaughter, Katherine Ann
Hancock of Charlotte.
A graduate of Queens
College in Charlotte,
North Carolina, Class of 1942, she was a gifted and talented woman involved in artistic and creative endeavors much of her life. She was very active in her church, Centenary United Methodist Church, in the United Methodist Women,
Alter Guild, and children's programs. She was a lifelong member of the
Daughters of the American Revolution and was the
Harmon family historian. She was active in the local Garden Club, the Winston-Salem
Craft Guild, and many other organizations throughout her long life. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at
Oakwood Cemetery in Concord,
North Carolina. Memorial donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church or the Salvation
Army.
