WESTFIELD - William Maynard East, age 64, of Westfield passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Mr. William East was born in Stokes County to the late Jessie Willis and Luilla Pyrtle East.
He was a devoted member of the Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church for over 35 years.
Mr. East is survived by his loving wife, Margie Lawson East of the home; one son, Christopher William East and wife Megan of Westfield; one sister, Truvilla Lawson and husband Lonnie of Westfield; special nieces and nephews; Dixie Howell, Matthew and Joshua Branagan, Wanda Woods, Annessa and Tyler Irvin; one special pet, Sluggo; one grand-dog, Sadie.
Preceding him in death is one sister, Gilda E. Branagan.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., with Elders Vance Jones, Rodney Marshall and Scotty Marshall officiating, with interment to follow in the Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Family received friends on Monday, June 29, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be sent to Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church cemetery fund c/o Elder Vance Jones, 3460 Hwy 268 E, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the E.D and I.C.U doctors and staff members of WFUBMC and all of our friends and family members of Stokes and the surrounding counties. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is assisting the East family.
