PILOT MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Delmon Hazel Smith Essick, age 89 of Pilot Mountain passed away on, June 29, 2009 at her home.
Mrs. Essick was born in Stokes County on October 25, 1919 to the late Jennie Lynn Smith.
Hazel was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Essick is survived by seven children; Betty Shelton of Pilot Mountain, Ruth and Ronald Gordon of Pinnacle, June and Joy Essick of Pilot Mountain, Mildred Essick of Pilot Mountain, Nancy and Donald Gallant of Pilot Mountain, Sylvia and Glenn Sisk of Pinnacle and Roger and Elizabeth Essick of Pilot Mountain, nineteen Grandchildren; forty three Great-Grandchildren; thirty eight Great-Great Grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and husband Johnny Lewis Essick.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at New Beginning Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Louis Martin, Brother Don Collins, Brother Chester Wall and Brother Jack Anderson officiating, with interment to follow at Brims Grove Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Hospice of Stokes County. Cox-Needham of Pilot Mountain Funeral Home is assisting the Essick family.
