WESTFIELD - Mr. Lester "Gray" Marshall, 69, died Friday, June 19, 2009.

He was born March 24, 1940 in Stokes County to Jerry Cornelius and Bessie Jane Joyce Marshall.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Sowden, and Rachel Collins, two brothers, Ted and Junior Marshall, and a grandson, Joshua David Shelton.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Dale Pyrtle Marshall, a daughter, Darlene (David) Shelton, and a son, Elder Rodney (Anna) Marshall; five grandchildren, Brandon Shelton, Corey, Lawrence, Joseph, and Neal Marshall, two great granddaughters, Emily and Katelyn Shelton; three sisters, Myrtice Bowman, Ethel Crews, and Ruth King, and three brothers, J. C., Glenn, and Jimmy Marshall.

Gray was a member and Deacon at Rock House Primitive Baptist Church where funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, June 22, with Elders, Rodney and Scotty Marshall, J. H. Keaton, John Calhoun, and Vance Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 this evening, Sunday, June 21, 2009. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rock House Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Geraldine Ahting, 1211 Keaton Rd., Westfield, NC 27053.
