WESTFIELD - Mrs. Thelma Augusta King, 77, the widow of Elma Calvin King, of Westfield passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born March 29, 1927, in Stokes County to the late Samuel Harvel Venable and Ida Simmons Venable.
They were blessed with three sons and six grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. King owned and operated King's Grocery and Sandwich Shop for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. We feel blessed to have had her in our lives. Mrs. King was a member of Stoney Ridge Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Martha King of Pilot Mountain, Clark and Deanna King of Westfield and Lark King of Westfield; six grandchildren, Joanna, Rachel, Tasha, Heather, Travis and Devin King; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Bill Vaden of King and Helen and Roy Hall of Westfield; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Louise Venable of Rural Hall, Darrell and Glenda Venable of Winston-Salem, Billy and Betty Venable of Rural Hall and Allen and Carolyn Venable of Westfield; and sisters-in-law Patsy King of Westfield and Faye King of Westfield.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Elma Calvin King; her parents; a brother, Harry Venable; and two brothers-in-law, Leonard King and Ray King.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Vaden and the Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 24, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. The King family is being served by Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain.
