The Bryan, Needham, Dickson/Dixon, Edwards, Spinks and Ward surnames are prominent in my research, as I nearly descend from all of these families and or that they are collateral relatives in some manner.
The Ward Family of Randolph County, North Carolina married amongst the Edwards and Spinks Families, just as that of the Lawrence and Carr Families; then the Dickson/Dixon Families were members of the Society of Friends in the vicinity of Orange and Caswell Counties of North Carolina.
One problem that remains is the mystery of my great great great grandfather, Benjamin Ward, born circa 1780 in Onslow County, North Carolina. Mr. Ward most likely married at least three times, twice after his removal from Onslow County.
There was at least one child from his first marriage, Edward Hiram Ward, born circa 1798 in Onslow County.
It is my belief that Mr. Ward and his son removed circa 1800 to Walton County, Georgia, where he became established as a Planter.
My descent from Mr. Ward was perhaps by his third marriage to Rebecca Hagin, a daughter
of Daniel Hagin of Clarke County, Georgia in 1822; their daughter, Mary Ann Ward was the wife of
William Morris Webb of Marion County, Tennessee.
Edward Hiram Ward and his half sister, Mary Ann Ward were well educated.
Can it be proven that Mr. Ward was a son of Colonel Edward Ward and his wife,
Mrs. Elizabeth Aldridge Ward of Onslow County, North Carolina?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated by me.
Thank you,
Allen Webb
