Hello, Judy
My husband (a Bass) is from Sampson Co., and I have been researching his ancestry there. I have traced him back to Jenkins Bass (1802-1865), but I am stuck there - can find no info on his (Jenkins') parents at all. According to the info I DO have, he married Colene Dudley, they lived in northern Sampson Co (I expect around Newton Grove / Spiveys Corner area) and had 12 children: Shephard I., Martha, Edwin, Jenkins (maybe), Reuben, Lenard, Levi, Colin Colen, Handy, Melvin (hubby's G-grandpa), Joanna, and James Campbell. Do you find mention of any of these Bass names in the Sampson Co Heritage Book? We now live in SE Alabama, but I found that a library about 2 hours from here has a copy. I don't know if it's worth the drive if there is no relevant Bass info - but I would still love to look through it!
Thank you so much! - Amy Bass
