PATTERSON family cemetery--help

Surnames: PATTERSON, BALDWIN
I am trying to locate the Gilbert PATTERSON family cemetery which was surveyed by the Historical Records Survey of North Carolina 1938.

The location of this cemetery is recorded in the survey as Maxton, Scotland County, NC. This, however, is a little confusing, as most maps indicate that Maxton is in Robeson County.

The directions on the 1938 survey are as follows:
"leaving Maxton on the old Maxton-John's road out by Presbyterian Junior College for 2 1/2 miles, turn right at cross-roads, cross A.C.L. R.R. and go 1/4 mile further, cemetery is in big open field about 1/10 mile from highway."

Burials listed in the 1938 survey:
Baldwin, W. D. d. 1891
Patterson, Anna d. 1889
Patterson, Charles Calhoun d. 1910
Patterson, Gilbert d. 1883
Patterson, Malloy d. 1902
Patterson, Margaret Ann d. 1868
Patterson, Victoria d. 1912
Patterson, William d. 1886
Ray, Thomas Julius d. 1897

Yesterday (June 2014) I followed John's Road out of Maxton, Robeson County, until it suddenly became Old Maxton Road as I crossed into Scotland County. The crossroads that seemed to come close to but not exceed the 2.5 miles indicated in the 1938 directions above was the intersection of Old Maxton Road and Patterson Road (when I went further, to where Stewartsville Cemetery Road intersected Old Maxton Road, the mileage was closer to 3.5 miles). I followed Patterson Road until it ended at Rocky Fork Road in front of a large feed plant, and I still hadn't crossed any railroad tracks. There were railroad tracks if I turned right on Rocky Fork Road, however, and I could see the Scottish Heritage cemetery across the intersection. Although I found some Pattersons buried in this cemetery, they were not the ones listed above.

Any help would be appreciated :o)
