I am also trying to figure out the parents of Simon Cox. He was my 4th great grandfather. I have seen the court cases involving Phoebe Cox and Gilbert Brumble. I can only assume they were never married. Right now I am thinking that Gilbert's parents were William Brumble and Elizabeth Cox. Could it be that the parents of Phoebe Cox are Simon Cox and Sarah? If this is the case I think Simon Cox and Elizabeth Cox were both the children of Jonh Cox. Thus, making Gilbert Brumble and Phoebe Cox first cousins. I would really appreciate any information or insight on these relationships. I am also curious if any thing has been established as far as race. It seems difficult to really be sure of anything.
