My thread is Samuel Paulk, Mass., Samuel Paulk, Conn., Jonathan Paulk, Va/NC/Georgia, Micajah Paulk, Ga., James Micajah Paulk, Ga., John Paulk, Ga., Henry L. (Brooks) Paulk,Ga. John, Brooks Paulk, Brooks Paulk, Ga./Fla., H. Brooks Paulk, Florida. If you are keeping records, continue with Andrea Paulk/Hagerman/Moffitt/Paulk,Amber Brooke Paulk Lopez-Mieres. (It must be the 21st Century.)

Jonathan Paulk, husband of Ruth Stearns, attended the Baptist mininstry of Shuebel Stearns in Va, and NC. He continued with Daniel Marshall into Georgia.

There is a book, History of the Sandy Creek Baptist Association From 1758 to 1858, by Purefoy, available. I was able to borrow the book from Bob Jones University. Frankly, it was of limited use, but did notate the original members. I feel you know this book.

The wife of Jonathan Paulk was Ruth Stearns, as you probably know, too, but did not mention.

You mentioned a second Shubel Stearns on the ministry. Did the original Shubel Steans, the proprietor of Tolland, Conn., migrate as your note indicates? As you said, Shubel
had no surviving progeny. I did not know the father followed the son?

Hello,

I'm trying to find the parents of an Alfred Smith. Born around 1818-1820. He was married in Chatham county to a Julia Lutterloh, then later to a Charlotte Catherine Lutterloh. The census' show him being in Randolph county from 1850-1880, but he disappears after that.

He listed that both his Mother and Father were from North Carolina, but that is all that I have to go on. Any help at all would be much appreciated, thank you.

Donna; Hello, my name is Jerry Jackson (Clyde's brother) and as you know, we too are trying to find Addison's parents and siblings. I'm helping Clyde, but I'm taking a little different approach. I had a DNA test done for a National Geographic project and they also have their own family tree project going on. Anyway I've found a few clues that may help us. Firstly, I've matched 66/67 markers to a James Wesley Jackson and 64/67 to a Thomas Jackson born in England in the 1600's, and a 65/67 to a Brice Jackson who was married to an Elizabeth Armstrong in 1802. OK? James W. is a direct descendant of Brice J. who is purported to be a son of Isaac Jackson and Mary Pearson who seems to be a direct descendant of previously mentioned Thomas. My candidate for ggggrampa therefore is Brice or one of his brothers, specifically Isaac III.(He,s the only Jackson in Randolph Countys' 1830 census who had a son the right age.) Besides that, Brices' descendants seem to have migrated to Texas. At least there is no mention of him in the 1830 census I looked at. Small world? Yes it is, but it's all circumstantial without the paperwork to back it up. Sooo, I think the County library in Ashboro, NC. is the place to look, but it's not accessible on line. Clyde says you live in Virginia? Would it be to much of a hassle for you to go to Ashborough to check it out? I know it seems like a short hop from where I sit (I live in Washington, also) but I'm still dragging my feet about going to Idaho and it's only 400 miles or so, so I'll understand if you can't. I've sort of been getting used to the idea of having to make the trip myself anyway. Incidentally, your David J's brother James J is buried there (Idaho) with his wife Amanda. Another incidental: The DNA report matched me as a descendant of Irish Quakers. As it turns out, to escape the Protestant persecution in England, our ancestors, along with several other families migrated to Ireland and became Quakers. .Also,I've read that three brothers of Brice were "disowned" apparently for owning firearms. That would explain why Addison was baptized as a Baptist.
One more thing, I worked on a research ship for the University of Hawaii for a few years with a guy named Lawson from Virginia Beach. Ring any bells? I don't know his first name. Everyone just called him Lawson. Even his girlfriend and some of his buddies from high school. I think he would be almost 50 by now. Enough babbling for now. Keep in touch. Jerry Jackson

Also the flaw i found in sues writing out of curiousity in the 1840 clinton county ky census she has written on that page charity a. as 1 f age between 10-15

This is a big flaw and throws her theory out the window she really has made a mess of my family line..

charity E. wright(not middle initial (A)) (daughter of ballinger) was born in 1844 and was 6 years old in the 1850 clinton county ky census!

and clearly shows in the family tree her granddaughter wrote in 1900's that her grandmother was charity e. wright born in 1844 in kentucky.

Iam open minded in some research so i look at writings and records to make corrections..sue really needs to correct this page or remove it because it well mess up family generations research in many years to come, her only basis is theories and people look at this page..Also i do believe ballinger was a cousin to A.B. Wright but the book does not clarify that ballinger was was a 1st cousin..ballinger could be his 2nd,3rd,4th cousin etc after all according to A.B.'s Book ballinger was much older then A.B.!

sue is grasbing at straws trying to make her family fit into mine..because she has no answers for her family

Also my findings is that joseph and moses could be brothers and this would make ballinger and A.B. cousins

Thought i would post my correct info in case others clicked on your link you posted..

Thanks for the information. I truly appreciate it. You mentioned Ballinger Wright and the name intrigued me as I had seen it before, but couldn't remember why. I found a very good site that mentions Charity Wright [Dearing] at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/WRIGHT/2010-06... written by Jerry Sue (Wright) Jordan, Jun 2010. Susie's a great lady and I enjoyed discussing our various family differences with her. She was extremely helpful in helping me realize my own Wright line.

You are quite accurate; we are from separate and distinct Wright lines.

I wish you great success with your research, as well.

Actually..I have a family tree book that was done in 1900 by charity wright (daughter of ballinger wright) granddaughter..she lists ballingers father as john william lewis wright his father as joseph wright and his father as william wright..this granddaughter most likely asked charity for most of the info..So i consider it concrete..who would know better but family and charity would know who her grandfather was wouldnt you think....I personally dont believe in DNA..it gets broken up by generations so the dna is not true..so i think its hogwash
good luck with your research..your line of wrights are differant from mine!

Actually, Richard Wright, Sr.'s parents have been identified. Many years ago, researchers indicated a half-dozen 'parents', but none offered any kind of evidence. They were all discounted, with the exception of Osee Wright Johnson, back in the 1940's who actually did physical research. At that time, she found out who his parents were not. Then. just several years ago, other families were discounted by DNA tests - genes tell.

That same DNA evidence did identify his parents as being Philbert Wright & Esther Becraft of Maryland - a greater probability than anyone else. For the time being, this Wright line cannot be trace back further than Maryland where the first Philbert was found in . We only know he was born before 1690 [and may have possibly been older than Esther, which would explain why he died before 1738] - but no actual birth date or place [probably England] has been identified.

You'r correct in the usage of the name "Philbert Wright" - it is a name that has almost solely been identified with this Wright family - which is why I'm inclinded to believe that many could be/would be related. I've identified 11 of them - and all related to Richard, Sr.

Unfortunately, without DNA from further direct-line Wright male descendants, like those in Kentucky, at this time there's no way of telling if or how they could be related.

Shirley! I have to tell you! I pretty much quit working on my wrights and doing research! Darn book writers have taken the pleasure out of family research..I researched for years and shared my info only to find that they used the info in there books, making money off of my family name..Dont get me wrong,if you write history for the sake of learning great..but as one gent told me..he but his children through college off one book he wrote on the wrights..somehow this just doesnt seem right..Anyway..I wont have much more info other then that! By the way..Joseph wrights pension record that claims he was disquilified for pension..I have copies of the orig documents that shows he did draw a pension, not much but he did draw some and it was pretty much straightened out! Dont listen to those fools that say otherwise! I founded the records and shared them first..NO one would have ever had them if i had not found the documents! Thats the gods honest truth..I wish you lots of luck in your research!

Thanks but my Joseph Wrights father was William Wight. About philbert wright...there are 100's of debates going as to who his parents are..no one may i repeat no one has been able to figure it out..I know a philbert wright lived in the same area land in wolf creek and other areas in cumberland/clinton county kentucky area. Philbert wright would/should be related somehow to my wrights from this area! there where two philbert wrights..senior was with/in the same area as my wrights as far back as the 1810's. In 1810 there where 5 WRIGHTS in cumberland county kentucky ESAU,JOHN SR,JOHN JR,LEWIS,PHILBERT..in 1820 there where only 10 WRIGHTS
ESAU,ABNER,EDWARD,JOHN SR,JOHN JR,JOSEPH,LEWIS,LEWIS (2 LEWIS'S)PHILBERT (PHILLIP) and William...John Wright Sr was a son of joseph wright as well as one of the lewis's and isaac Wright.. William John lewis Wright is my GGGrandfather and Joseph is my GGGGrandfather

Hope this helps!

Barb - did you ever get your JOSEPH WRIGHT defined? Looking back over my records, sorry - but he did not have a son named Philbert. Richard Wright, Sr. [my ancestor] did, and Joseph is supposed to be a brother to Richard. I've not been able to make that connection, because all I have on Joseph is that he was "born abt 1740". If you have a better date, would love to know.

Based on the information I have, William D Lackey (b. April 1857) married Mary E. Routh (b. Feb. 1859). William was the son of James Madison Lackey and Ruehany Fields. William had 7 siblings. I am descended from his oldest half-sister, Sarah Catherine Lackey. She married Mebane Causey Ferree. She was the Postmistress of Ramseur, NC in the late 1880s.

William D. Lackey's siblings are:
Sarah Catherine Lackey
Louisa Lackey McDaniel
Thomas Eli Lackey
Ada Lula Lackey
Hosta Cora Etta Lackey Breedlove
John R. Lackey
Effie Lackey Pugh

I am interested in exchanging information on these Lackey families.

Well, I am thrilled that you are interested in your family history and I hope that you will continue your interest because your Trogdon side (and I am sure your Dad's side is just as interesting), but on your Trogdon side, you have a Revolutionary War Patriot - as a matter of fact, I just placed a flag on his grave (he died in 1805) He would be your great grandfather Let's see 9 gnerations back. You can go to this website and see a picture of that. So Floyd comes from a long line of Patriots. http://www.co.randolph.nc.us/hlpc/monuments.aspx
Randolph County, NC is where your Trogdon ancestors settled in the 1753's - from Maryland I might add.

How we are related - VERY closely. Floyd and my mother Edith are brother and sisters. Your mother Nancy is my first cousin. As her child, you are my first cousin once removed. I don't think me or my two brothers have ever met most of you, but we are the very, very close cousins.

That is a sad situation for me. Especially with my mother not well. I believe we need to have a "Trogdon" family reunion, while we still have Uncle Floyd and Aunt Berry and my mom, you know her as Aunt Edith. My mom would love for that to happen. I've heard her mention you. Are you in law enforcement? I know a son of Nancy and Ted's is in law enforcement - and I forget, I believe you have another brother - I don't remember his name. I was at your dad and mom's house a couple of years ago. I brought my mom up.

Anyway - if you are ever interested in your Trogdon lineage, please let me know - you are eligible right now to be a member of the Sons of the Revolution or SAR which I'm sure has a chapter where you live. I am in the Daughters of the Revolution DAR under William Trogdon - our mutual ancestor.

You can see the story of the "Billy Trogdon Cemetery" and a picture of the grave of our RW Trogdon. I spend about 2 afternoons a week out there - working in the cemetery and that is really the only place I let me dog out to run - it is way back in the woods. Take care Kevin, it is nice to meet you - if only by this!

My email is jclacoss@earthlink.net and I am found on facebook Jean Covington LaCoss - and there is also a Randolph County, NC Genealogists that has pictures of the cemetery if you are interested.

PLEASE NOTE - it is with much regret that I must inform the Wright family that the information I posted on Greenbury/Greenberry Wright is in error. At the time, it seemed his parents were Peter Wright & Rachel Wood. It came to light when I fully understood that the years were off too much.

The Peter Wright [& Rachel Wood married 26 Mar 1812 in Harrison County, Indiana] - http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&db=ea... was the son of Amos Wright, b. 1764 [Amos was son of Richard Wright, Sr. and 'Ann']. This Peter Wright was a preacher and died bef August 1852 in Jasper County, Missouri.

The children of Peter Wright & Rachel Wood were:
Malinda Wright 1813–1880
Tilman Lowe Wright 1816–1894
Dempsey Wright 1817–1851
Nancy Wright 1818– 1870
Washington Wright 1820– ?
Rebecca Wright 1822–1904
Violet Wright 1824– 872
Elizabeth 'Betsy' Wright 1825–1858

There's not a 'Greenberry/Greenbury' amongst them.

Regarding the Greenberry Wright [who may have been b. abt 1780] who married Catherine Lodica Sevedge [1780–1860] - I have not found his parents. [There WAS another Peter Wright [b. 1754]; died unknown, who was also the son of Richard Wright, Sr. and Ann; however, no information has been found of a wife or children for him.]

Documented evidence for this Greenberry's [d.o.d 1813] pension was received confirming he died in 1813 from wounds received at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. The application was filed by 'Docia' Savage - after the death of her 2nd husband. She was permitted to file the application as the widow of Greenberry after providing substantial evidence that she had indeed been married to him at the time of his death.

At this time, this Greenberry's parents are unknown to me. Anyone with information on who his parents are, please let me know. While I believe I am fairly proficient on this Wright family, this mystery has me perplexed.

This family had a penchant for using the same names throughout the generations, only differentiated by the year of birth/death. I have 5 'Greenberry/Greenbury' Wright's in the family line - none of which can be considered to be the right Wright.

Again, my profound apology for the error.

The more I think of this, the more I'm convinced that my Nancy Robbins Smith, married to James Clark Smith, both of Bell County KY was an offspring of one of the James' Robbins men, but it's confusing as can be!!
Cousins, with regards to Fuson's history I am a descendant of Nancy Robbins Smith (daughter of JA Robbins) in Bell who married James Clark Smith. Would love to collaborate!!

Henry Harvey Fuson, History of Bell County, Kentucky, (New York: Hobson
Book Press, 1947}, pp. 270-278. Rev. Wilburn T. Robbins, 1876-1959,
contributed his family information for inclusion in the "Early Settlers"
section of this book:

"Rev. W. T. Robbins gives the following with reference to his
family: "The original home of the Robbins family in Kentucky was
Buncombe County, North Carolina. All of the Robbins family in Kentucky
came over from North Carolina during the nineteenth century. James
Robbins, who married Martha Brothers, was born in North Carolina in
1750. He was my great-great grandfather. We have the information that
this couple reared a large family, one of whom was my great grandfather,
Jonathan Robbins, born in 1785 in North Carolina. His wife was Mary
Massengale, the daughter of Lemuel Massengale. Their children were as
follows: (1) James M. Robbins, born in N.C. in 1806, came to Kentucky in
1836 and settled in Bell County about one mile from Calmar. (2) Lemuel
Robbins, born in N. C., came to Bell County in 1838 and settled near
Colmar. He died in 1878. (3) James Robbins died April, 1876. (4) Michael
Robbins, born in 1810 in N.C., came to Bell County in 1840, married
Betty Crawford, and died in 1896. (5) Absalom Robbins, born in 1812,
came to Kentucky [p. 271] in 1856, and settled in Jackson County. (6)
Mary Robbins Holt, born in N.C. in 1814, married Holt before coming to
Kentucky, and settled in Jackson County in 1856. (7) Miss Nellie
Robbins, born in N.C. in 1816, and died in N.C. in 1832. She was never
married. (8) Jane Robbins Runions, born in 1818 in N.C., married Thomas
Runions, and settled in East Tennessee. (9) Abba Robbins Ball, born in
1820 in N.C., married Addison Ball, came to Kentucky in 1856, and
settled in Jackson County. (10) Joshua Robbins, born in 1822 in N.C.,
came to Kentucky, remained here only a short time, and returned to N.C.
(11) Rev. J. A. Robbins, my grandfather, born in N.C., November 28,
1824, and died April 26, 1867. He married Matilda Goldsmith, of S.C.,
and settled in Jackson County, on Pond Creek, in 1856. He was a Baptist
minister and taught in the public schools. Founded many of the churches
in that section, one of which is the Annville Baptist Church, which is
now presided over by Rev. D. S. Smith, as pastor. During his lifetime,
which covered only a few years, my grandfather accomplished a great
work. Grandfather J. A. Robbins and grandmother Matilda Robbins reared a
large family, of whom my father was the fourth. His oldest brother was
(1) Lemuel Robbins, born in 1840, and served in the Civil War. (2) James
Robbins, born in 1842, served in the Civil War and died with the measles
during service. (3) Sarah Robbins Turner, born in 1844, reared her
family in Jackson County, Kentucky.
"The Robbins family in Bell County, Kentucky. James Robbins,
Lemuel Robbins, Michael Robbins, Rev. J. A. Robbins (through my father,
Wiley M. [p. 272] Robbins and John Robbins, my uncle) founded the
Robbins family here in Bell County. James M. Robbins married Nancy
Robbins first in N.C. in 1827, settled in Bell County in 1836, and to
this union were born: (1) Maria Robbins Miracle, (2) James Robbins, (3)
Nancy Robbins Smith, (4) J. A. Robbins. Maria Robbins Miracle, born in
1830 in N.C., came to Bell County with her father and mother. She was my
grandmother on my mother's side. She married John E. Miracle in 1854. To
this union were born five children: (1) James Miracle, born in 1856, (2)
Mary E. Miracle Robbins, my mother, (3) Frederick Miracle, a twin of my
mother, (4) Martha Miracle Barnett, (5) Nancy Miracle Browning.
Grandfather John E. Miracle died of measles while serving in the Civil
War. All of my relatives, who were old enough, joined the army and
served as Union soldiers during the Civil War. Grandfather died in 1863
and was buried at Booneville, N.C., but later his remains were taken up
and interred in the National Cemetery at Knoxville, Tennessee.
"Lemuel Robbins, who married Kizzar Robbins in N.C., came to Bell
County in 1836, and settled on the Colmar Ridge, near his brother James
Robbins (also my great grandfather on my mother's side). Here Lemuel
Robbins reared a large family. His children were (1) J. A. Robbins, who
married Mary Pursifull, (2) Nancy Robbins, who married Alex Dickson, (3)
Sarah Robbins, who married James Green, (4) James Robbins, who married
Rebecca Green, their children being (1) George Robbins, who lives on
Hances Creek, (2) E. L. Robbins, Farriston, Kentucky, (3) Frank Robbins,
Broadhead, Kentucky, (4) Charles [p.273] Robbins, Crab Orchard,
Kentucky, (5) Mrs. George Wright, of Illinois.
"Clark Robbins was born in Bell County but reared his family in
Jackson County. Elizabeth Robbins married David Smith. One of her sons
was Rev. G. W. Smith, of Wasioto. This entire family is now dead.
Michael Robbins, who came to Bell County in 1836, married Betty Crawford
and settled near Colmar. Their children: (1) John C. Robbins, (2) Mary
Robbins, who married Rev. James Van Bever, (3) Sarah Robbins, who
married James Barnett. A large family was born to this union, among
those who living are (1) Prof. R. W. Barnett, (2) Jackson Barnett, (3)
Moses Barnett, (4) Charles Barnett.
"John C. Robbins reared a large family: (1) Mrs. Kate Blevens,
Middlesborough, (2) John Robbins, Middlesborough, (3) G. W. Robbins, (4)
W. M. Robbins, (5) Houston Robbins, (6) Mrs. Ervin Wilson, (7) Mrs. Eb
Ingram, being some of his children.
"Rev. J. A. Robbins, being represented in Bell County by Rev.
Wiley Robbins, son of John Robbins. The late Wiley M. Robbins, my
father, came to Bell County from Bond, Jackson County, in 1871, and
married Mary E. Miracle, my mother. To this union were born the
following children: (1) Rev. John A. Robbins, Glamorgan, Va., (2) Rev.
W. T. Robbins, Highsplint, Kentucky, (4) Cleve Robbins, Four Mile, Ky.,
(5) Leonard Robbins, Wasioto, Kentucky, (6) Garret Robbins, Dayhoit,
Kentucky, (7) Mrs. Otis Simpson, Ferndale.
"There are three Baptist preachers in our immediate family. Our
grandfather, J. A. Robbins, is a Baptist preacher. So far there have
been [p. 274] more than twenty Baptist preachers in the family. Most of
them are Missionary Baptist preachers, but some of them are primitive
Baptists. One of them is a Holiness preacher. One time one of our
cousins was a Mormon preacher. His name was Rev. A. J. Isaacs, Lock,
Ark. The best known Primitive Baptist preachers are: Elders J. A.
Robbins, Middlesborough, and R. W. Robbins, Route 1, Pineville.
"(1) My brother, J. A. Robbins, born June 27, 1873, (2) W. T.
Robbins, (myself), born October 29, 1876, (3) G. W. Robbins, born 1893,
(4) Cleve Robbins, born April 25, 1884, (5) Leonard Robbins, born
January 8, 1882, (6) Garret Robbins, born 1896, (7) Mrs. Ottie Simpson,
born 1898. Every one of the above has reared a large family.
"W. T. Robbins, on July 12, 1902, married Miss Geneva Peace. We
have the following children living: (1) Mrs. Juanita Robbins Anderson,
born October 19, 1904, Married S. E. Anderson, Abingdon, Va. Juanita is
a teacher in the public schools. (2) Beatrice Robbins Rice, born July
27, 1907. (3) Ezra Robbins, born January 17, 1911, (4) Marvin J.
Robbins, born September 2, 1912, (5) Thurman Robbins, born June 2, 1916,
(6) Birchel Robbins, born January 22, 1918, (7) Roddy Robbins, born
January 8, 1920, (8) Hugh W. Robbins, born December 12, 1921. Seven of
our children finished high school. Three have had some college training.
Two are in the teaching profession. Two are working for the Kroger
Grocery Company. One drives a truck for the Standard Oil Company. One
attends Union College. One is at home with his mother.
"The writer has had thirty-five years' [p. 275] experience in the
teaching profession, 40 years' work in the ministry, 34 years of this
time Clerk of the Bell County Baptist Association, helped to organize 45
churches, and helped to ordain 48 new preachers. I helped to baptize
1206 persons into the churches, received by letter 970 persons into the
churches, making a total increase for the churches of 2176. I was County
Judge of Bell County for four years, served on the County Board of
Education four years, and was bookkeeper and stenographer in Knoxville,
Tennessee, for five years. I have traveled 74,500 miles to fill my
appointments to preach to my people, walked 31,600 miles of this
distance. I acted as Missionary of the Bell Association of Baptists 11
years. Most of the time I have been pastor of four country churches and
some of the time as many as six.
"I have an accurate record of all my work. At one time during the
flu epidemic I was teaching and working at the same time for the State
Board of Missions. I received a letter from the State Superintendent to
close my school and that I would be paid in full for all the time I
lost. I also received a letter from the State Missionary and he told me
to do the same thing, to close my work as a missionary and visit sick
folk and to do what I could without trying to preach. At that time my
friend H. C. Smith was County Tax Commissioner. He asked me to assist
him in his office. This I did, and as a result, I was paid three
salaries at the same time. I give this information only to show how many
occupations some of our preachers [p. 276] have had in order to pay
expenses while preaching to
country churches.
"Going back to my great grandfather on my mother's side, James M.
Robbins, his second marriage was to Sallie Miracle. By this union there
were born the following children: (1) Zachery Robbins, (2) James M.
Robbins, Jr., (3) U. S. Robbins, (4) Rev. E. B. Robbins, (5) John F.
Robbins, (6) Sarah Robbins Knowles. These were all born in Bell County
and reared their families here mostly. There were once two men in Bell
County by the name of John A. Robbins, who took their names from my
grandfather, Rev. J. A. Robbins.
"Lemuel Robbin's son, J. A. Robbins, married Mary Pursifull. Their
children were (1) Thomas Robbins, (2) James B. Robbins, (3) Ellen
Robbins Davis, (4) Sarah Robbins Bingham, (5) Charity Robbins Risner,
(6) Rev. W. S. Robbins, (7) Jacob Robbins, (8) Alice Robbins Denny, (9)
Maggie Robbins Williams, (10) Rev. John M. Robbins, (11) Kizzar Robbins,
(12) Henry Gray Robbins. James Robbins' son, J. A. Robbins, married
Vicie Pursifull, and had these children: (1) Esau Robbins, (2) John
Robbins, (3) Green Robbins, (4) Clark Robbins, (5) Malinda Robbins
Jackson, (6) Margret Robbins Smith, (7) Mary Robbins Smith, (8) Nancy
Robbins Smith.
"Thomas Robbins, the son of Lemuel Robbins, has two sons living in
Bell County: Elders J. A. Robbins, Middlesborough, and R. D. Robbins,
Route No. 1, Pineville. Both are ministers of the Primitive Baptist
Church. Both have large families and are good citizens.
This probably has absolutely nothing to do with the McDaniel of whom you speak, but my great grandfather Harrison Trogdon was "bound out" to Mr. Alan McDaniel and his wife Jane who had a farm in the Cedar Grove area of Randolph County. Harrison grew up, was released from servitude, left McDaniel's farm for a year, found a bride, came back and bought 16 acres of land from McDaniel's farm, lived out his life, raised his family on what once was part of Mr. McDaniel's farm. The road on which both houses were located is now named McDaniel Rd. My great grandfather Harrison was born in Randolph County in 1872 and I have never found who the parents of Alan McDaniel were. I haven't made this question a mission yet, just thought I would throw this out there with the area in Randolph County where these McDaniel's were. Oh - I also believe Alan and Jane were Quakers and attended "Science Hill" church according to a daughter of Harrison. He did not stay in the Quaker faith after he left.

All info says John F McDaniel was b. Randolph Co, NC. But Randolph Co wasn't created until 1777. The area that later became Randolph Co was in Rowan Co in 1765. Several people say his father was Abraham McDaniel who fought in the Rev. War. The only source I can find for this is a history of Poinsett Co, Ark, - but it was written about 130 years after his birth (hardly a primary source). And I can't find any records for an Abraham McDaniel as a Rev War veteran. Is there any evidence about John's father?
