Hi,

A descendant of Ninian Beall/Bell HAMILTON (1739-1831) has recently DNA tested and is Kit #178506 at:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Hamilton/default.aspx?se...

Their closest HAMILTON y-DNA match is H-312 in Group I (as in "eye" not one) at:
http://www.personal.psu.edu/faculty/g/a/gah4/HamDNA/RGrps.ht...

While at first glance kit #178506 does not appear to closely match this group, it is believed that a RecLOH may have happened in this lineage.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RecLOH
In simple terms, their mutations on markers 459a and 459 of 8-8 and on 464a, 464b, 464c, and 464d of 16, 16, 17, 17 may have all happened in one "event" from the 8-10 and 15, 15, 16, 17 of H-312.

Kit 178506 is descended from Ninian B. HAMILTON's son William (1765-1832). To help confirm that this HAMILTON line is part of Group I, we need tests from HAMILTON lines descended from either different sons of Ninian, or from his brothers. If this is a RecLOH situation and happened in recent generations, then
tests from other lines may more closely match Group I.

If you are a male HAMILTON descended from this line or know of one, please contact me. You may see additional information on this HAMILTON family at:
